I think this photo has been posted on here before. Great capture of a time.... the parkas, the hair etc. I'm in it, but have no memory of it. I think it's Ayresome Park Road looking up Chester street, so I presume it's a queue for match tickets.... but does anyone have any idea what game it might be for? I am guessing that, date wise, it would be 74/5 ish.

Is that Ayresome Park Road and the former chapel that was demolished and is now part of Sacred Heart school playground. So, yes Chester Street with the shop on the corner of Ayresome Street. No idea what the queue is for.
We had lots of big crowds in the season you mention. Could it be for League Cup semi final v Man City?

The length of the queues suggest it was probably for a Cup replay because there would be only a couple of days to buy tickets. If 74/75 is correct then it could be for the Peterborough United fifth round replay - first game was on 15 Feb and the replay was on 18 Feb.

If the OP is in it then surely he has an idea how old he was? Three years is a long time when you are young.

First picture is I think Carlisle away FA Cup 5th round match date Feb 7th 1970. Massive queues and crush on turnstile opening (East End seats behind goal).
Queued with my mother to get our tickets as dad at work. Will never forget the crush on getting through the turnstile to get our tickets.
Won 2-1 and played Man Utd in next round
