Old Ayresome photo ... help?

If the OP is in it then surely he has an idea how old he was? Three years is a long time when you are young.

Well if it ain't me, it's a double. Someone else actually spotted me in it. What's difficult is judging my age from a photo.

The sign above the gate says that tickets are on sale on Sun 16 January 1971. That's clearly an error by whoever wrote the sign because 16 January wasn't on a Sunday in 1971 but it was in 1972, in which case this is the queue for Manchester City replay tickets.
Typical MFC, always getting it wrong.🙄

I think the buildings shown on the original photo had been demolished before 1974 - I really cannot remember them still being there at that time. I used to go in the Bob End then.

72 is probably on the money. But less likely that it is me, even if the hair, clothes and everything look right.

I lived in Surrey Street, just off Ayresome Street from 71 -74. I seem to remember a couple of occasions when a queue went beyond the General Hospital and up what was then Ayresome Green Lane. My unreliable memory tells me I queued all night for the Man Utd game in 72. I'd forgotten that Britain went decimal in February 71.

Great detective skills Capy. Reminds me of a weirdly wonderful series of YouTube videos where a guy tries to find hidden locations from photos alone. No idea why it landed in my feed but it's compulsive viewing for me now

I do a lot of geolocating from photos and videos.

My son introduced me to quite a fun online game last year as well .... basically, you get a google street view that could be from anywhere it the world and you have to try to pinpoint the location.... mainly by moving around it, checking roadsigns, landscapes etc. It was quite addictive.
