Oh Wilder (just) Said …

Sorry, don't want to fall out over this. The bloke is a prat for not squashing this, he clearly has as interest as is his right. But despite the fact I believe he is very talented and would have taken us up next year, I really don't think we can move forward with him, his head is elsewhere. If his head is this turned by Burnley then we need to move to a more stable minded manager even if theybare less talented
I just think everyone is massively overreacting. If he leaves, then fine, but if he stays I don't think he has done anything wrong bar answer a question badly after a desperately disappointing defeat

He’s definetly done something wrong. It’s a shocking answer and snakey. He knows what he was doing

Chris often tends to talk too long and go round the houses a bit.
He also gets irritated with some members of the media.

I will be genuinely surprised if he really wants to go to Burnley.
Either he's not that sharp and no loss, or Gibson isn't bothered about him going, which is the same thing really.

It would be a rather disappointing end to his little spell here, but I still just do not see it happening.

I'm shocked but who knows why he wants to leave - closer to home, promise of more money, lies by Boro on summer budget, Bausor's grin is doing his head in.

Sounds like he is off. Club have sold a lot of early bird season tickets based on Wilder giving us a promotion of push next season. If they appoint a woodgate-like manager it won't go down well.

Depends. If he goes for an interview and they give it to someone else then it looks like he was willing to leave which is just as bad. I can't see Gibson being happy with that from his manager so soon into his tenure.

You could almost understand it if it was someone like Everton, Leeds or Newcastle who have a high ceiling if things are put right but Burnley are a nothing club and could conceivably slide back into oblivion with relegation. They have already reached the peak of what they are capable of. I can't imagine someone with genuine ambition would be tempted. It can only be for a short-term cash grab or he's already fallen out with Gibson and he's jumping before he's pushed anyway but there has been no indication from anywhere that would be the case.

Jesus boys, calm down.
The wheels have fallen off, we've lost a must win game at home, can't score for love nor money and a journo asks a question about a job vacancy.
Just as easy to interpret his reply as a hamfisted way of telling the journo to eff off as he's not helping the situation.
Fans complain about media savvy managers, fans complain about ones who aren't so eloquent.
He was asked before the game as well. Cant be doing with daft teenage bants that. This is coming out with. Yeah, but no but year but no but.. EMOTIONAL!

Given the volume of anti-Wilder messages you’ve pumped out in the past 24 hrs, will you cry if he stays and it turns out to have all been a storm in a tea cup?

I'll let you decide for yourself!

I've seen other people say it, so I'll respond as if you're serious, it's a strange read to take a manager switching from a generic suit to an outfit emblazoned with the Middlesbrough badge as a sign that he's leaving.

If anything, I'd take it as a positive.

“You don’t need to ask me though do you”

I have said it before that I wanted Wilder here for ages and am chuffed he finally came. I don’t see a valid reason why he would go to, of all clubs, Burnley. He said himself several times he was ambitious. What I don’t get is the failure to draw a line. He knows how that will be seen as a mixed message, he isn’t daft. It is unfair to fans whatever side of the opinion you are sat on and it is a touch disrespectful to the owner.

It is entirely possible he is irritated with journo’s lines of questioning. He is contractually obliged to answer questions about the game, not his personal position. He has been irked due to the defeat, but he was very tetchy when BBC Tees mentioned the excellent Bournemouth draw had ‘stopped the rot’, he was overly sensitive to a common everyday saying, he is not normally like that. It was as if he was under pressure, waiting for the question he didn’t want to answer which, after a good result would normally have been more relaxed. Again yesterday he was anticipating the question coming and jumped in to avoid answering, he knew it was coming and assumed what the reporter was about to say (which i’m sure he was tbf).

I have seen the Gazette article saying MFC are relaxed about it all and confident he is going nowhere. Pleasing as that is, this could and should have been put to bed on Friday, not allowed to fester and destabilise our combined belief and trust. I hope the team and Wilder get nothing but support at Swansea but the last few days have been wholly unnecessary If the Gazette article is correct.

He could've got a suit with the Boro badge on though - it'd have been more costly and therefore more indicative of his dedication to the job.

I've genuinely no idea why he's changed his match day regalia, but my question was tongue in cheek.
