Funny, I’m the same too.No matter how hard I try I just can't warm to Pogacar
Oh and by the way, and @pierrequiroule you may know this already but there's a little bit of Boro in this years tour.
Phil West, from Acklam, is one of the Team DSM (Romain Bardet's team) DS's in the race.
Blimey, didn't know he was doing that. Don't know him, but raced against him at Junior level once or twice. He was a beast.
I am the same, but for me I think its because he is just so dam good he is removing a little bit of the drama and spectacle. No matter how hard I try I just can't warm to Pogacar

That being said he is winning me round with his attacking flair, nice to see the Maillot Jaune choosing to attack when he could sit in the wheels.
Drugs mate.No matter how hard I try I just can't warm to Pogacar
You're right he was always pretty special, his dad was a decent rider for Cleveland Wheelers and I remember going out with them both when I was about 13 - they absolutely hammered me just on a social ride, but also taught me about the importance of fuelling correctly using banana sandwiches.
I think a lot of people are in the same boat , same with WVA, & to a lesser degree VDPFunny, I’m the same too.
Maybe it’s because I have my doubts
I was also in the bang average category. Always dreaded seeing Phil West's name on the TT start list as you knew you had no chance of winning the Junior prize.Yeah, he and I started cycling pretty much together, and used to race the track at Clairville together so maybe you beat me up one Wednesday night (I was / am bang average).

Did you ever go on a Cleveland Wheelers club run? If so, I may have met you, although I moved out of the area late 70s. Phil's dad was a regular when I was riding - really pleasant man - and his wife was riding too, but my memory may be playing tricks.
