NYC in March?

For some reason I’ve just remembered being there in the winter and ice braking off and falling 500 feet plus from some of the buildings when the sun hit them!

I’ve been to NY quite a bit. I’ve been when it’s at its coldest and still wanted to return. But I went to Chicago once when it was cold, probably not as cold as NY has been, but Jesus I felt it! Never been back 🤣

Thanks all….appreciate it’s a gamble of sorts, but per the last post I think we should just crack on!

Hoping El Niño sorts us out and hots things up early next year 👍

I'd probably just give it a miss I were you!

NYC isn’t a cheap place to visit at anytime, so you might aswell do it the way suits you best.

If it were me, and I wanted it to be warm. Rather than gamble on it being warm in March, I’d book my flights for when it’s much more likely to be warm.

Gramercy. Did you.ever stay at the Gramercy Park Hotel. Pity it closed, great place.

Google was inconclusive, thus the request for real-world experience from my fellow fmttmers (y)

Anyway, booked it now :)

Nice

My top tip - walk the Brooklyn bridge for best sky line pic (as it’s almost as high as you get in a helicopter flight) but it’s free.

Same with Staten island ferry for that past the Statue of Liberty pic and again free.

The high line is also a great way to see the city. The elevated walk way recently built.

Let me know if you want to watch a Boro game while there. I'll let you know of any on the NYC Boro fans are going to be in the regular Boro bar watching it.

I went in Feb, just before the Super Bowl. It was really cold but no worse than a Really cold day over here. We did 3 days sightseeing and it was brilliant!

A few days later they had to close JFK for a day or so due to snow!

I wouldn’t worry about it being cold, just take a big coat, hat and gloves. It’ll be right!

After surviving 4 Chicago winters (and 3 Washington DC winters that can be pretty cold too) I can confirm that decent socks, gloves and a warm hat are as vital as a decent coat (or layers) when it's Baltic. Go Outdoors sell Heat Holder stuff and their kit is a nice, inexpensive option (instead of paying a fortune in NYC). Perfect for cold night matches at The Riverside too!

In March it's more likely to be freezing than boiling, but I'd still take shorts and tshirts too lol
