Now The Window Is Shut, Where Will Boro Finish

I’m always glass half full, maybe we needed the window to close so there is no more uncertainty.

Now the players and staff know what needs doing and who needs to do it. Maybe now get their heads down.

A decent run can have us right back in the mix, I’ll say okay off places, just missing out in automatic

I think Wilder won't be able to hide his anger and disappointment and I think that's a bad starting point to motivate a team from. If you don't think what you've got is good enough to do what you want to then you're never going to manage with honest confidence. People, players, can sense this. We've seen it loads of times and it rarely goes well.

11th.

I have no idea.
At times we've looked very good, at others we've looked very dodgy.
I guess we'll find out which of Ying and Yang is the real Boro.

Between 9th-12th.

Not enough quality or depth and an unhappy and frustrated manager that will, subconsciously or consciously, not be able to motivate the players he has. Very very poor start to the season meaning the buzz has already gone from the fan base.

Disappointing.

Given our obvious midfield deficiencies it will depend on our injury/disciplinary record in that area. If we can be lucky with injuries and suspensions we can still make the play offs but if we get hit with them particularly in midfield we could be languishing in mid-table around 13th place. There is no one team 'head and shoulders' above everyone else and the games come down to fine margins.

Yesterday was clearly a massive disappointment for everyone. I had previously had confidence we would get the bodies in we needed by deadline to have a right good go at automatic promotion but for whatever reason it hasn't materialised. I'm sure it's not for the want of trying and I think comments about Gibson lacking ambition or 'pocketing' the transfer cash are unfair and inaccurate (just an opinion). Everyone has stressed how hard it has been to get deals over the line and it does seem to have been tough.

Perhaps I should have noticed an early clue as to how things might go. Comments from Scott ages ago about the summer having the best list of out of contract players he'd seen that we were working on. This has effectively delivered one free transfer in Lenihan which seems a poor haul from such a long list where we were undoubtedly in for more.

Just outside the play offs - we’ll go on an excellent run when the new players are settled in, but falter at the last. I genuinely think we would have been a serious contender if we hadn’t lost Tav. We’ve bought in some good forward options and look a threat down the left. Wilder’s going to have to try a bit of youth in midfield. If he sulks because we couldn’t sign 2 or 3, despite me thinking he’s a good manager, then we’ll get someone else in and probably still finish in the same place!
