Novavax vaccine to be made on Teesside

Yep. The old ICI office building.

Did they get permission to take the road and re-route Belasis Avenue round past Synners? I'd seen the application, didn't see the results.

I work just down the road at Belasis Technology Park when I go in to the office.

I actually didn't know that was part of the plan. There's a Waste Management Company in the old Billingham Press building, so I guess they're against it. On march day that road becomes a car park too!

Welcome news if it bring some much needed jobs to the area and great news to have another vaccine in the war against covid.

I wonder what kind of jobs. I was thinking about that this morning and how it would be a great place to work. You'd be really making a difference.

I imagine manufacturing line jobs and maybe QC jobs anything to ramp up production and product release. Working in the industry it’s always interesting talking to the guys working on vaccines, a good mate has just gone to work for Pfizer. Sadly the company I’m doing work for at the moment has just cancelled its vaccine research because there’s doesn’t add anything that the rest already give. They are still working in treatments though

I worked there a few years ago as a contractor. They really do make a point about how every day at work could make a difference to someones life with the products that they manufacture (on behalf of other companies - they don't actually make anything for 'Fujifilm'). I was just there as a contractor but they treat you the same as the staff and invest massively in training from day one. Fantastic company with big ambitions. Stockton council should be bending themselves over backwards to allow them to expand as much as possible. These are proper jobs covering all ranges of abilities. Billogs should be proud to have this company based in their town.

I am!

It’s fantastic news and as said above well done to everybody in the area who has contributed.

I think the media reaction has been really interesting, I’ve never heard Teesside mentioned so much in the national news, it’s almost like they are reassuring the rest of the country that this one is ok, it’s made in a place where they will make sure the EU can’t get their hands on it...

Yeah I've been keeping a close eye on how the spell 'Teesside' on the news ticker, so far its been OK (damn - they will be spelling Middlesborough correct next).

TBF if it means jobs and prestige for the area they can call us what they like. As long as it boosts our economy. A rose by any other name...
