Not flying to Australia

Just look at the Co2 releases that could have been avoided . Every border they have crossed will have resulted in all 3 of them having an extensive chat with border control about their intentions whilst in the country. This is at least 4 people guffing out Co2 expellation at a huge rate. Surely by Flying to Oz and and only having one of these chats , would have negated any flight fuel Co2 output. Sorry, I'm just looking at this as a maths exercise Every breath we take in has about 0.04pc Co2 but when we exhale that son up considerably to about 20pc. These pepple have not factored in their 4 month Co2 exhale metric at all !!

I wish them well and applaud their principals and endurance.
If they were publicity seeking they would have had the press involved prior to and write ups during the journey.

I am sure you can do it in 40 days in a ship. Friends are leaving the UK for Oz for good, in a few weeks and they are taking a cruise ship to the Panama Canal and getting to Oz that way. It will not be cheap but they have sold up 2 UK properties and have one they own to move to in Oz - lucky people.

Suppose I'd better pipe up seeing as I posted the op 😁
Had it been put forward as a low carbon adventure trip with a Sydney wedding in the middle of it then it'd have sounded better.
The fact that they are "hoping" the harbour master can get them on a boat in East Timor makes it sound more like a hitchhiker's jolly boys. If I was going to my sister's wedding in Australia I'd make sure I was going to be there, not winging it.
Anyway, as I said, it's worthy, but perhaps badly planned.

They take 4 months to get to Aus, while the planes keep flying.

How many of those planes had empty seats?

Surely they would have been better off contacting the airlines to see what flights were taking off with spare seats and taken that flight.

Their effort is having no impact on reducing carbon. Someone should tell them

Their effort has an impact on their conscience and belielf’s - which they have held since 2002.

That’s important to some people
