Be interesting to see what this does to the spread of Covid in Northern Ireland and if other places will follow suit.

Closing all non-essential services and two week half term for schools.

It's not a circuit breaker.

It's a lockdown.

Why the insistence on calling it a circuit breaker?

It’s the term that Arlene Foster used but I did call it a lockdown also as you’re right that’s what it is....to me it’s more of a speed bump rather than a circuit breaker, it’s not going to stop the spread of Covid completely but should slow it down, although that proof will be in the pudding.

England need to follow suit for a full lockdown

What would a 4 week lockdown achieve that a 8 week one didn’t? Especially with schools and universities still open for some of this time or are you suggesting we lock university students in their rooms?

Also why should hard working business in the county I live be punished and livelihoods lost because other areas of the country can’t follow the rules? A few days ago we had approximately 20 people in hospital with Covid for the entire county.

The purpose SAGE gave was to fix the shambles of track and trace.

In 4 weeks? They’ve only had half a year to get it right, I’m sure they can fix it in a month...Besides why do you need to shut down the entire country to fix or improve something? It’s a shambles, this is probably the only thing we will agree on but track and trace only works if you can get a test and if the public decide to co operate and there’s not a lot of trust or faith in the government any more.

Why are you falling for the b***ks.
First lockdown was to protect the NHS which is actually there to protect us (but that's a whole other discussion caused by years of cuts and greedy NHS management) and to "flatten the curve". It went on for 3 months.

If it's brought in to this country it's not going to be for 2 weeks or 3 weeks or 4 weeks, it'll be the new year when whoever can afford to come out of house arrest will do so. Millions won't see family over the winter (I will because I'm not putting my family through that again and they can fine me all they want they won't get a penny out of me 😉).

Those who are pro lockdown, fine, lock yourselves down but stop playing the selfish card against those who don't want to when those who do want to lockdown are just as selfish.

And if you or a member of your family end up in a critical care ward with a tube inserted into your/their throat forcing air into your/their lungs to try to keep you alive, I'm sure you might then appreciate who the real selfish ones were.

You'd have to be mega unlucky, 80% of people who catch the virus will only suffer mild to moderate symptoms requiring no hospital treatment (Chris Whitty March 2020). Ventilation was found a few months ago now to actually make things in patients worse hence the quiet dropping of Dyson built ventilators and those built by the F1 teams but obviously you already knew that right? Did you know that currently 8 out of 9 people who are unfortunate enough to end up in hospital actually get discharged? That is every age group aswell may I add, yes even those in the category that the virus (like others) affects the most, those over the age of 80.

I got one of this random letters off of the NHS yesterday for their 'survey' you know the one where they go out looking for the world ending virus? My swab comes next week. Will complete the test according to the instructions. I've also booked an anti body test in Durham at a cost to myself and I'm also looking for an anti body test that can be filled out at home. Looking forward to comparing all 3 results.

Please don't drive your car tomorrow, just incase you knock a kid over also please take into consideration that when climbing into bed tonight you may not wake up in the morning, don't put all your eggs into the covid basket if you are that concerned about death, you need to think of all the variables or none at all.

Yet Liverpool ICU capacity has almost maxed out. Its not due to car accidents.

Shocked that there are still people who have this attitude.

Can we get one thing straight...

WE HAVE NOT HAD A LOCK DOWN

what we had was a fudge of moderate social control nothing more.

According to who?
Which hospital in Liverpool?

Like the one in Blackpool which was maxed out with 8 beds?

Liverpool Mayor, around 60 from the 2 main hospitals not including additional temporary capacity.

You can degrade the numbers all you like, the numbers are rising and that's after 2 months of loosened restrictions. If we stayed the same or opened up completely, it would be worse.
