No new striker

I agree about Kav.

I think every club from 7th to 14th is saying "we would be comfortably in the play offs with..." insert "better defense", "better attack", "better luck", "fewer injuries", "fewer daft individual errors".... etc.

Somehow we never remember the matches we shouldn't have won, where we rode our luck, like the stupid freekick Huddersfield conceded for our winner at their place.
do you mean Swansea ?

I dont get the negativity on here. Our team looks as though we're likely to be much stronger from now on. The return of McGree, Hackney, O'Brien with the additions of Azaz, Ayling and Thomas make me think we're odds on the finish in the top 6.

I would stick my neck out and say Leicester and Soton will be the two who finish in the automatics. If that is the case then Leeds and Ipswich will likely be the favourites but I think we would have an outside chance if all are fit and well.

I think we will bring a striker in before the window closes - Carrick knows we are short up front and his options are further limited by his makeshift forward in Rogers leaving. The recruitment team will do the business UTB

I do.
Huddersfield was the one with Howson's lucky finish wasn't it, so a case can be made we were lucky to win that too.
yeah it is weird we beat Swansea, Huddersfield and Millwall which were all very tight and could of gone either way the only away game recently where we have dominated is Rotherham and we lost that one lol

We know we won't make any desperation signings, I think we just have to have patience, it took Brentford and Brighton a while to build promotion teams using a similar model. I think we have a decent foundation, if we have to wait until the summer to get the right players in then so be it. We will improve this season once some players return.

Being honest even if we make the playoffs I just don't see us winning them unless we hit some crazy unexpected form, it's been a rebuild season and the injuries haven't helped one bit, however I feel more positive about the long term future than I have done in a long time.

The thing is we fancied ourselves last season and totally bombed. We were a different team them last 10 games and not in a good way.

If we squeeze in late and can end the season in good form you never know, the teams you mention above could easily hit a bad run at the wrong time... all teams in this league are capable of that.
Nobody (including me) thinks it is impossible. I just don’t want us to bomb all our money purely with this season in mind.

Thinking positively Coventry came from no where last season and got into the play offs on the last game.

They only missed out on promotion through spot kicks.

I like us to bring in another striker be it on loan even.

I don't feel I'm being negative: I'm very upbeat about where we are as a club just now, and our future prospects. I feel we're on the right track, and if we stick with it, promotion will come. I'm not devastated if it doesn't happen this season: I'm enjoying the ride.

I do think odds on to make the playoffs is naive, but if that's really how you feel, you can get up to 3/1 on us making the top 6.
Should we make the playoffs, recent performance of the 5th and 6th place teams is not encouraging: we'd still be unlikely to go up.

I don't deny there's a chance, or claim it's impossible. I just wouldn't go all in, gamble away our summer spending, on such a small chance.

For what it's worth, I think we have some very good players just now, but I don't think any of them are so good that they are indispensable, or couldn't be replaced. The sale of Rogers does not dent my positivity.

The biggest hole in the squad is definitely for a 3rd striker, LL is still adapting to the league and the way he relies alot on explosive pace means he will pick up injuries whilst adapting to the league, playing twice a week, more physicallity etc. Coburn's is struggling from niggling injuries, probably because he missed a chunk of the back end of last season and the majority of pre-season, and we have had to use him a lot more than I think we would like to because of injuries and lack of back up. I would be pretty surprised if a new striker didn't come through the door by tomorrow, particularly the way the Rogers deal has been constructed with a big chunk up front, leads me to believe it's a good negotiating tool to pay the new strikers club all the fee upfront, I'd expect to see a £4/5m striker come in, who - I have no idea, but imagine it will be from a European club, because they tend to like the money up front rather than spread over the players contract.

The new lad Azaz will also compliment for goals up front so despite Rogers leaving I think we’re ok but not necessarily the finished product up front.

Dieng/Glover

Ayling/Dijksteel
Fry/RVDB
Clarke/McNair
Engel/Thomas

Howson/Barlaser
Hackney/O'Brien

Jones/Forss
Crooks/Azaz
McGree/Greenwood

Coburn/Latte Lath

Sam Silvera is a good shout for a possible striker.. Alex Gilbert is in the mix too.. Matthew Hoppe could be ripe for the hero's return.

I think the squad will be a weaker squad at the end of this transfer window than it was last years winter window

Which didn’t get promotion

Yes but it was full of loans so we went backwards, this summer we can build on what we have which leaves us in better shape than when the loans left.

v disappointed we haven't signed a striker esp now Rogers is going. Lath and Josh are only squad players not ones that merit an automatic start. Seems like we've given up on this season

Weird way of doing it.. buying Finn Azaz and bringing in Luke Ayling and Luke Thomas!

THREE players in January.. so far.

I don’t think we have given up at all. We’ve got players coming back. We’ll be up there.

Who do you need us to bring in for you not to consider us ‘giving up’
