Nicola Bulley still missing

I'll say it again and with respect, some of the posts on here are nonsense.

It's overwhelmingly likely that she has gone into the river and given that likelihood she may not be found for weeks, months or even not at all.

The reason why the police have released the information about her vulnerabilities is to try and stem the conspiracy theories and the theories of the armchair detectives.

If the police believed there had been any third party involvement they would be treating the investigation as a crime, given to would then provide a host of additional powers within the legislation to do so.

Its a very sad case, but contrary to some people's views the police actually know what they're doing.
If they knew what they were doing they would have the foresight to realise their first message would only lead to more conjecture as they later realised and decided to reveal more information in order to clear things up (whilst causing greater upset to family and friends)

“It is an unusual step for us to take to go into this level of detail about someone’s private life, but we felt it was important to clarify what we meant when we talked about ‘vulnerabilities’ to avoid any further speculation or misinterpretation.”

I think if i was on a call, with more than 1 person, if someone was on mute throughout and then didn't say bye at the end or anything i'd have messaged or rung them after but maybe thats just me, and my company how we work. I wonder if she often sat on mute through these calls?

The whole 'incident' is very odd and they way the police/media are putting news out there about her past issues with alcohol it feels like they're trying to vilify her a little bit so perhaps the general public almost stop paying attention to the story. Its already dropping down the news sites front page now.

You'd do that on a company wide call perhaps with hundreds of people ?

We have plenty of calls where its about disseminating information (say earnings calls as an example) and there could be hundreds of people on, but 99% of people would remain on mute, perhaps until the questions section at the end when one or two may ask a question.

No i was speaking from my experience, within in our company, within our department 99% of meetings have around 8-12 people, all of whom i have worked with a number of years and if they didn't speak in a call i'd probably just message and ask if they were out shopping, or walking the dog, doing school run etc and just make a joke of it.

When we have clients, vendors on the call during project planning meetings that's different. Majority of people are just there to take information in and answer a question if need be and been numerous times ive sat on mute throughout, but everyone seems to sign off with a goodbye, just out of courtesy.

Do we know how many people were in this call?

The first message? I'm guessing you mean the consistent messaging around the belief that it's most likely that she has gone into the river?

Which seemingly dis nothing to avert the huge media speculation?

Hence they have tried to dampen this media frenzy with the release of the additional information, which I'm certain will have been done with close consultation with her family.

Its easy to criticise what is a very difficult balancing act.

Releasing things of a personal nature about this woman by the police is absolutely outrageous its finger pointing at its worst, saying she had a drink problem in no way at all helps the search for her its just a crude attempt to defelct attention from thier own incompetence, shame on them
I’d go further.
If it does turn into foul play then ‘she liked a drink’ will portray her as complicit.
if she has fallen in the river ‘drink’ will be the cause

Neither are good for the family or women in general.

Same as that awful Dally Mail headline about the guy who murdered his wife and child
’Was successful wife too much for husband?’

Completely agree, I always have my camera on and say hello at the start, then often mute and turn the camera off especially if either of the kids are at home. Then turn it on at the end to thank the host and say goodbye.

It may also be that the press had been given a tip off re the drink headline and the Police decided to release something in advance.

Maybe
But
I still don’t think it should have come from the police unless it is deemed to help them find the cause

Not their job to ‘spike’ the press

No yesterday afternoon they released a message to say she had specific vulnerabilities that they couldn’t disclose.

Then everybody started speculating!

Then the police released a second message saying she had a drink problem and they had to disclose this due to the speculation!

In short the police ****ed up and tried to fix it making the problem worse again!

If someone from work badgered me about what I was doing while on a call I'd probably stop working there pretty quick 😂 I hate calls where everyone feels like they've got to have a say without adding any actual value

Absolutley this, besides which, what business do you have to know if they were walking the dog, out shopping or not?

Do you also make a joke if someone leaves before 5 or turns up after 9am?

Depends on the content of the call I suppose. If someone was off camera on mute but important messages were being delivered if expect them to be on camera.

Depends on what level of professionalism is required for the call. Most team meetings I attend since working from home have replaced face to face therefore for those types I would expect same level of standard to be adhered too

First real look at the time frame of it all

Things that stand out. No note or indication. Would say that unusual for a suicide, given the family demographic

Suggests accidental or foul play. If foul play given no commotion reported via dog, phone remained logged would suggest it someone who would know her.

all 3 scenarios seem to be unlikely but suicide given the phone was left behind seems the most plausible?

What I remember most of the office calls is , mute / unmute , it's a two state toggle switch right, not a 3 way logic gate or a 4 choice radio button . The amount of people that couldn't display an average amount of ability to manage a 2 state switch was staggering
