Newcastle fans simply can’t take it

I’m glad they got beat today, but more so because of the ridiculous media love in for them lately. The coverage they’ve been getting on Sky and the like these last few weeks has been nauseating. It would have gone off the scale if they’d won today.

I‘m sure their blood money will win them something sooner rather than later, but for now I’m glad they’ve got a bit longer to wait.

I enjoy the loss because it's their last shot at winning one where they can realistically say that it wasn't funded with blood and oil money. Everything from now on is tainted in my eyes. The ethics of the funding of their club is grim although I'm sure the exciting players and success will make it easier for them to ignore. Wonder how they feel when it's mercenaries and not some bloke they can hail as being like 'Bobby' in charge. Will they become whiney success demanders?

They seem to think they've stayed humble so far yet I don't see it.

The only disappointment I feel is that my best mate is a Newcastle fan and I know this meant a lot to him, my own feelings towards NUFC, Saudi Arabia and Geordie mass delusion aside, I hate to see a close friend let down.

Eddie Howe will the next to go as well.

Eddie Howe will the next to go as well.
I thought that too.

Initially be a controversial sacking, gobshyte fans will be at St James protesting in front of the cameras, a 24 hr mumbling and grumbling by the fans, then a mega galactico manager appointed - Zidane, Tuchel etc. Normal irrational service resumed. "Howe, shyte, needed to go ......"

Clubs expectations will become too big for Howe sadly, as he's done a cracking job there.

Just can't see them looking at slow steady progress can you?

Can just imagine it can't you.

The special one takes over a special club as he attempts to repeat the successes of two decades ago, getting Newcastle into the Champions League as his beloved mentor Sir Bobby Robson last did and would have wanted. This is Jose's second time overseeing the successful laundering of fresh blood and oil stained cash on a new generation of super stars to push an average team on to manufactured glory.

The w@Nkfest would be never ending.

Honestly growing up, United got so much nauseating attention from the media that it made you absolutely hate them. Whenever they got beat it was 'United played bad' 'Where did United go wrong '

Now it's bloody Newcastle but its so much worse. This isn't an underdog story. Bruno was linked with the Elite, Newcastle had the cash to pull him. Tripper was attracted to money, nothing else, he'd have gone to United if it was for Footballing ambition. Snatching your relegation rivals best striker for £25million? £60 odd million on a random striker from La Liga linked with the best clubs in the world? True underdog story.

I don't know how they dare complain when they had Ashley, they bought Joelinton for £40million. Almiron for £20million.

Every single time one of their players touched the ball it was a true magical tale to the pundits. Wish they'd behave haha

Their current squad cost a lot of money, 1/4 of a billion already and all paid for by Saudi Arabia, so even if they'd have won the cup yesterday, it would still have been bought and paid for by that regime imo. But I get where you're coming from. They're likely to take it to another level now and outspend everyone this summer, and for the foreseeable future, so yeah, in that context yesterday was their last chance to win something before they really do join the obscene elite that can buy success year in year out (if that is their ultimate goal).

Before kick off yesterday I had mixed feelings. I had a wad of cash coming if they'd had won it. Would have been my biggest ever win on an accy. I also have family members who are Geordies and they're good people, salt of the earth. But when Man Utd scored that first goal I cheered as if it was a Boro goal and knew instantly where my true feelings toward them lay and how much I wanted them to win nowt! ;)

Absolutely hilarious watching them get played off the park yesterday. All that money and still light years behind a decent team like Man U.

The longer the wait goes on, the funnier it will appear. I'd expect some serious money to be thrown around in the Summer though to get them up to scratch. The likes of Burn, Willock and Murphy are championship level at best and frankly an embarrassment for a club with any serious level of ambition.

Agree with those about Howe.

He's a sitting duck now.

He has absolutely zero experience of winning anything. Nor does he even look like a manager who is capable of winning trophies.

They will obviously keep him until the end of this season as he's done an ok job so far, but if they miss out on top 4 (which is looking likely), after being in the top 4 for the majority of the season, then no doubt the owners will be thinking of pulling the trigger.

He may get the summer with a war chest, but if they start the season slow(ish), then he'll be fired, no doubt.

The media and pundits will soon turn on NUFC if they sack Howe when he doesn't deserve it. Ashely got hammered when he sacked Chris Hughton after he got them promoted. I can see history repeating itself.

At the moment the Sky skunfest and Geordie love-in is off the scale, but negativity is something the media will love just as much as them having the novelty of a new team joining the 'elite' to report on, so if there's a hint of things going pear-shaped up the road, we'll see a complete turn around and I can see them becoming pariah's if the Saudi's start sacking managers and/or the skunks start getting frustrated the longer it goes without them winning something.

The top players won't go there they will always choose champions league teams and the style of football howe plays won't be attractive. The only way they could be successful is to sign potential and have a manager who can improve them like wenger did in the 90s. I can see howe leaving and them going for someone like Potter who is on borrowed time.

The turning point for them will be Champions League qualification - as it was for City a few years back. It will allow them to tempt a better class of player with European football.
