It gives the club valuable data about who is using tickets themselves and who is sharing or regularly passing tickets to friends. They can use that information to market offers to those people and maybe sell a few more tickets. It can be used to help prevent abuse of the priority points system with people buying high demand tickets and selling them on for a profit. It can be used to help prevent people getting in on concession tickets they don’t qualify for.

I still can't see if I had a digital ticket and gave my phone to a friend to use instead of myself how would the club know it wasn't me? as now if I gave my card to a friend they don't know who is actually using it just that it has been used. The same with concessions If any of us can't go we take my grandson who is 7 using an adult ticket. I'm sure it evens out adults on a concession and children on adults. As for reselling how can the club know if the ticket has been sold or given away?.:unsure:

Are you really gonna lend your phone to a mate in this day and age? You’d have to go at least 3 maybe 4 hours without being on it. Most people’s bodies would simply shut down in this time.

You’re not likely to be giving someone your phone. You transfer your digital ticket to their account for the game. They can then put it on their own phone.

As for the reselling, the club will know which account has used the ticket and can apply the priority points to that account or at least not apply them to the other account if that person isn’t attending the game. It may not work this way but it should. Other bigger clubs have restrictions on their tickets.

1 last question then I'll leave it. What if the person you want to give it to doesn't have an account that you can transfer it to?.

Would you be able to use an old phone without a SIM card in. Just have the ticket loaded onto that and then if you can't go and want to pass it on to someone else you just give them the old phone.

I would assume most people who would lend a season ticket to a mate won't be giving them their phone for the day.
I think what Rob is saying is you would transfer that ticket to someone else's account and they would scan in on their own phone. So you couldn't transfer a concession ticket to an adult account.

However I'm sure people will find a way round it. Like I could get someone's concession ticket transferred to my son's account and still scan in on that...... if I was that way inclined.

EDIT - Or Bruce7 has just shown an alternative way round it.
 
Is it not just as simple as removing the season ticket from your wallet giving them the qr link to add it to their wallet and then reverse the process to swap it back
 
When people talk about using old phones remember the phone needs to have NFC software. On Android phones go to settings and type in NFC in the search box to find out if the phone has NFC. My phones does not have NFC and its less than 3 years old.
