National Lockdown from Wednesday

This is no way to live life. It’s just an existence.
This **** show of a government haven’t a clue.

I want to go to bed tonight and never wake up again. I’ve had enough. Don’t try to tell me it won’t last forever. There’s no way out of this.

I felt like that last night too mate, I'm in Manchester and it almost feels like we've never been out of lockdown. Hope you feeling a bit better this morning anyway. I'm just trying to keep myself busy and not letting the ***** weather keep me indoors.

Lockdown as we've peaked just like last time, imperial releasing very poor work like last time...

It's a sad day and for everyone that passes or loses everything as a result of these government decisions my heart goes out to you.
Could it have been timed with today being the last day of the more generous furlough scheme?

Will be a few people on here happy lockdown is happening again that's for sure.

Country is ****ed.

Spoiler, if people thought other people took the **** with the first lockdown you haven't seen anything yet.

I can’t imagine anyone is happy with going into lockdown. You only have to look at the weather outside today

I agree I can’t imagine compliance to this lockdown will be high

No. They're going to a new circle of people, not the group they've been with for 4-6 weeks.

You’re naive in the extreme if you think they’re limiting themselves to one group.

You trust them more to stay at University and not socialise outside their small group than you do to get tested, go home and isolate themselves from their households?

University campuses are super spreaders, which is how nearly 800 tested positive at Northumbria Uni last month.

You simply wouldn’t get anywhere near those numbers at home.

You are right what you are saying but you missed off that we have allowed a lot of students to return home for the half term and will allow them to return to universities next week.

Pubs and restaurants are getting hammered for spreading covid yet you can look at the figures you mentioned and they have no intention of closing the classroom.

The lockdown should have happened a month ago, most of the damage is done now but I suppose the question is, do we have to continually repeat this cycle until a mass produced effective virus is available, is this the new normal, the collateral damage of this virus is going to be immense, both economically and to health but what choice do we have really.

Also do you think compliance will be much lower this time as tolerance levels have waned, to the point of American style protests and unrest???

By all accounts we'll have an effective vaccine approved very soon, so hopefully this is the last one. Been reports that frontline staff could be vaccinated as early as next month.

Obviously it will take many months for everyone to be vaccinated, and you can guarantee there will be nutters who refuse to get one for ludicrous reasons, and it sounds like it doesn't provide permanent immunity, but that will be a huge step back towards something resembling normality.

I said as much the other day and I'll say as much again, lockdowns are the only tools we have left because we, as a nation, from those at the very top through to those at the very bottom are victims of our own arrogance and self-importance.
Had we all bitten the bullet and done our utmost to stop the spread of the virus early on then we could have been in the same situation as New Zealand in being able to effectively target any infections and control them.
From Johnson shaking Covid patients hands, through Cummings flouting lockdown and testing his eyes while Dorries goes on a train trek and the general public thinking it'll only be like the flu so there's no harm popping round someone's house for a chat and a cuppa, our economic and mental downfall is a result of our own actions.
Yes, many have been good citizens, but they are the ones staying at home watching the Cup final while far too many have sneaked up to the fence and are either watching it through the gaps or full on jumping over the fence and saying F the consequences.
I'm against lockdown for all sorts of reasons, but we are as complicit in this absolute clusterfook as any of our so-called leaders.

Going back into a full lockdown in England after Eat Out to Help Out, a media campaign to shame people back into offices, sending students off to university campuses, ending furlough & shielding, and regional lockdowns...........

I voted Tory at this election (for the first time) and words fail me

I wouldn't call someone being skeptical about taking a brand new vaccine a nutter. I'm all for vaccines in most cases but to be comfortable with taking a covid vaccine so soon is being more of a 'nutter' than those who are cautious about it.

So spread away then spread at home. No.

Glad that you won't do the same again!
