National Lockdown from Wednesday

Yes picking up pace now, lockdown from Monday maybe?

Unless I'm being a drama lama, the fact that the Monday 4pm has been brought forward to 4pm today is significant. I expect national lockdown #2 which while disappointing it's come to this, I feel it's absolutely necessary. I appreciate not everyone will agree though, but if there's any hope of a family Christmas, now has to be the time

I don’t feel better to be fair. Looked at the loft hatch and considered banging myself from it about an hour ago. Was diagnosed as clinically depressed last year. The loneliness and isolation of lockdown and being forced to work at home with little or no daily contact just intensified my depression to the extent that I broke down in summer and had to take six weeks off work. Soul destroying. Only plus side is I’ve taken up walking and running and I can now run 10km. When I run I forget about it. But it’s just F***ing p****d down with rain for the past month. Let’s just pray football doesn’t stop.

As for the government Announcing this on a Friday night on the front page of the daily mail. Utterly utterly Despicable.

Glad to hear you find some solace in running. If you have any woodlands/parks near you, you can lose yourself even more I’ve found.

The fact you speak on here is good too.

I don’t want to feel like I want to tell you what to do or anything, but if you are open to ways that might help then give me a shout.

different things work for different people so they may not be your cup of tea.

keep in there bud. Keep talking if you can

Just because we're governed by a bunch of tosspots doesn't let us off the hook.
Yes, our leadership plummeted us into the grip of the pandemic, but surely people have seen some of the scenes inside hospitals, heard the accounts from doctors and nurses about how they are going above and beyond to try and save people and the effects it's having on them?
Watch this then come back and tell me you can not blame those who are willfully ignoring the rules and keeping the pressure on all our medical staff and indirectly affecting the care and treatment of thousands and thousands of non-covid patients for good measure.
My point was Dood we would never be where NZ are today with this government in place. Yes some lives would have been saved with better compliance, but as a proportion, not very many.

We are in this position because of the governance not non compliance

Regardless of anything else, leaking it to a paper at 10PM on a Friday night is shocking, wonder how many people had a sleepless night last night worrying about their jobs/businesses.

Considering the highest rate of infection was in educational settings will this even make a difference? We will still come out of this woefully unprepared.

It is strange to think there are people walking around now who are completely unaware they are already dead. No symptoms now, but in the space of the next 4 weeks they will have developed some, then self isolated, then been admitted to hospital, then transferred to an ICU, then into a body bag.
Every single person on the planet is already dead. It’s the only guarantee we have. That and torys serving their own interests

Be interesting to see just who complies with it this time, during the hardest months of the year anyway. I suspect there’ll be a fair few people “doing what any parent would” etc etc. Let’s just hope that this time they’re not mainly government officials.

There is always a solution, feeling great again is just around the corner.
Most have been there im sure, wishing you all the very best. The corner WILL be turned.
Get help if needed, even on here if you need it, most are good people and will help.

Some strange, albeit accurate, replies to my previous post. It is not already determined that someone will be killed by a bus four weeks from now. There are things you can do to avoid it if you did know, such as staying indoors.

For those who have a terminal condition that will kill them in as little as a month, there are almost certainly signs that you aren’t well. Or that there is treatment you can choose to take or not.

With COVID-19 the usual progression for those who will die is catch it, have no signs for a week, wandering around doing normal things, but three weeks later, no matter what you try, you are dead. This is not isolated freak cases, this is in quite large numbers.

Perhaps I’ve watched too many zombie films.

Well this is a lovely, cheery post...

I'm sorry AET no sugar coating it this is absolutely F***ing awful and I don't have any advice other than, you're not alone and just always pick up the phone before you do anything that can't be undone.

This is despite some great strides in mental health awareness in the last couple of years.

The most terrifying thing is, London has the lowest levels of suicide in the country. These figures won’t take into consideration the mass unemployment and financial hardship that’s on the horizon. If lockdown during the summer was hard for people, it’s going to be horrific during the winter. This madness has to stop.
