Most famous person you've met....

Derek White and Paul Wilkinson in a night club in Boro. Was so leathered I can't remember which one,Derek was charming, polite and sympathetic, ...Paul not so much. Also stood next to Bono in a urinal, and had a chat....in fact the whole of U2
Also Nurse Gladys Emmanuel at a funeral (not hers) and Bob Mortimer in a club in Peckham back in the day,he always looked terrified.

Went to a gig in Manchester
Got back to our hotel to find the band had booked the whole place out for themselves apart from the 2 rooms we had booked months before.

Spent the evening in the bar with Michael Stipe and the boys from REM
A bit star truck at first (me, not Michael)
He took our pic too

I was backing packing the east coast of Australia in 2010 and ended up in a little town, pretty far north called Airlie Beach. One evening I wondered into a quiet pub with some lads I'd met whilst travelling and there at the bar was Ricky Hatton. I was stunned. We ended up having a pint with him and his wife, and he was telling us that he was travelling Oz too, except he was doing it in his private yacht which was tied up in the harbour over the road 🤣 What a lovely guy though👌

I did some part time bar work at Pinewood studios when I lived at RAF Uxbridge.
Bumped into quite a few stars there, especially when we did the end of filming all nighters. Roger Moore, Faye Dunaway and Dudley Moore were a few that stood out at the time.
One incident that always comes to mind was a party after Santa Claus the Movie.
The stunt men decided it would be good idea to have a dwarf throwing contest, it was carnage!
I appeared on Big Breakfast a couple of times and met a few TV personalities.
Also, appeared on Sky News a few times in a professional capacity to give an expert view on various weather events around the globe.

I'm loving see stories. The randomness and veriety of people's experiences is incredible..! 😆

I had an interview at Bannatyne's HQ when I was in my early 20s, Duncan came over and asked how it went afterwards - didn't get the job.

Were you a WeatherGuesser?... Professor Fogg?

Pete Doherty after he'd performed in Darlington. We'd stayed behind for a drink in a nearby bar after the gig and as we came out we'd noticed him coming out of the venue, so had a brief chat and got a selfie with him.

Met Vinnie Jones and Gazza when they appeared at the Middlesbrough Theatre a few years back but was only to get a quick snap with them.
Mines similar. Waited around to meet him after a gig in Newcastle and he ended up in my mates front room playing guitar all night. Lovely bloke, on arriving preceded to do the dishes 🤣

I sold Alice Cooper a pair of trainers once.

Also met Boris Johnson through work and held Nick Caves hand (he was performing at the time I might add)

Geoff Capes. At school for one of those sports awards badges programs mid 80's, in my mid teens. The thing is we were told a week ahead that Sharon Davies was coming in and even though I was not a swimmer I was well up for that , absolutely. You get to meet them shake hand etc have photo taken. Then last minute change meant she couldn't make it and Geoff was a substitute. It all went sour for me from there. I didn't want my photo taken with him, lol. To me he was a beardy mammoth , I wanted to see Sharon. :ROFLMAO: Think I was at the end of the afternoon, he was already bored of it by then, I was not fussed so we shook hands didn't speak and I went on my way thinking where's Sharon , what's happened , she let me down . Was always wary of girls called Sharon after that

I completely forgot David Bellamy 😂 met him as a kid then rode with him on Saltburn miniature railway when he opened the Woodlands Centre, I was definitely star struck 😂

On the Pete Doherty theme, met and bought Shane MacGowan a whiskey, who received it with a lovely grunt, at an impromptu gig Doherty played at a pub in London. Later found out that MacGowan was living upstairs at the time.

Got wasted with Blur. ‘Universal’ era, so got to hang out with Jarvis Cocker, Ken Livingstone (very entertaining company) and Phil Daniels the same night. Damon Albarn was off his nut but Graham Coxon was an absolute legend and very friendly.

Am good mates with Maximo Park.

Some good acting ones. Imelda Staunton is a gossipy riot, and we once bumped into Stephen Graham getting hammered on his own in some pub in Kilburn, and had a nice chat - this was after This is England but before he was mega famous. Just a proper scouser, football chat.

Overall it’s John Cleese, an incredibly lovely, gentle and sensitive man who is - unsurprisingly - a genius at the science of comedy.
