Moscow attack

A majority of the World condemned Russia for the invasion of Ukraine and then yesterday gives them sympathy for the terrorist attack, plus the Americans gave Russia a heads up on it. What a strange World we live in.
You have surely seen now why US intelligence informed Russia of a potential terrorist attack? Putin is pinning the blame straight on Kiev's door. US knew this would happen and tried to at least make sure Ukraine was not an easy target for blame.

This is absolutely not a sympathy vote for the 4 terrorists who have been arrested in Russia, but have you seen the footage of them being dragged into the court room?

Some people probably think it's good, let the public see them, but it's brutal. Glad our authorities do not do similar in public.

Some intelligence suggesting those arrested are not even the perpetrators.

Those who have appeared in court have been badly beaten; it's also been suggested they cut off one mans ear and force fed it to him. Utterly barbaric. If they are guilty of the crime then let the punishment be lifetime in hard labour or such like, but until a trial they've surely got to be presumed innocent?

If anything, the brutality of what they've done to those arrested and the determination to blame Ukraine (whilst simultaneously p***ing off Tajikistan) when ISIS have clearly shown it was them suggests that things are perhaps breaking down internally in Russia too. This *may* be a hint that things are going South quickly. Let's hope that's true.

I read the same in some reports. It seems brutal what has happened to those arrested. Even worse if those have been forced to confess due to torture.

I believe it is diplomatic protocol, if you are aware of a terrorist attack you are bound to tell the country involved

Plenty of media reporting that Russia are refusing to mention ISIS, instead alluding to Ukrainian involvement. It seems the horrific death of 133 people could be used to really escalate what is already a terrible situation with Ukraine.

After two years chances of a ceasefire look remote.

What exactly is Putin’s end game now?

Wouldn’t be surprised if Putin is behind this

It just wouldn't happen here. Especially not in Birmingham or Guildford.

I'm not sure what that shows particulalrly - other than that all governments can behave barbarically given enough incentive.

To open up a land corridor to Kaliningrad
Could be, I know they haven't been happy with the positioning of missiles by NATO for at least 20 years so if there is a fracture in NATO they may take advantage of it, you just have to look at the way they have dealt with other counties on their borders to know that if they can control them politically they will, otherwise get ready.

Russia wanted/wants everything up to and including Moldova, then a corridor up through the Sulawaki gap to Kalingrad .... beyond that they want control of the Baltic (ie over Finland and Sweden).

Anyway, on the terror attack. Russia is now plagued by prank "bomb" phone calls.
And the FSB response to every one of them is "immediate evacuation".

The FSB now claiming that the UK, US and Ukraine were behind the attack.

Looks like the rhetoric for a broader war is ramping up.

It is scary and seems ridiculously clumsy for the head of the FSB to publicly claim that the UK and US were behind the Moscow attack. I would imagine that he wouldn't have said anything that hasn't been checked over by those at the very top.
It has been reported on the BBC.

Russia will probably beat the terroristss into a fake confession that Ukraine was responsible for the attacks

Standard fayre for Russia. And utter codswallop of course. It's all part of their "us against the world" domestic narrative. This will be the same FSB that has its headquarters 5 mins away, yet took over an hour to respond.

This screams of propaganda. Like you said, Russians are being spun a yarn that they are under attack from the West when it was actually Islamists.
It is lunacy. It is sick to use the slaughter of your own civilians to lie to the public to spin it to suit a different agenda. It does make one wonder if this attack was allowed to happen.

Yep, senior Russian figures and the Russian media have been blaming the UK for various mishaps for years… Perfidious Albion lives on, but seemingly in complete contrast to our actual capabilities.
