Morgan Rogers

I imagine they have signed him as a 'project' for the future. He's young and English so comes under the 'home grown' rule (I think).

He was never signed to play now. He's not good enough to get into a very good villa side. A loan back to us would have made sense for both parties.

I'd be surprised if he didn't go on a season loan to the champo club next season.

Agree. Think he will be loaned out most likely next January, maybe in the Summer if they sign more players. He should have stayed here at least another year to get his figures up and have the confidence that he could play at the prem level. This move may set him back a couple of years again. Not sure his agent has given him the best advice, but you never know how it will eventually all turn out.

Crazy career move for him

That’s is only ending one way… loan to Leeds
Can't agree, it's a great move for him, swap a mid table championship team where he wasn’t playing every game to a top 4 premier league team, challenge yourself to make the break through and set yourself up financially for life.

If he is as good as you and others were saying he is, why would he end up at Leeds and even if he does that's looks he'll still be in the Premier league next year. I know we want to keep.our best players and those with potential but we also have to have a sense of realism and I don't know why we can't be pleased for our explayers who are offered a great opportunity to better themselves.

It was always going to happen, he was playing for Blackpool last year...I'm not sure he would have got in our team, had we a fully fit squad.

He is not good enough to walk into the Villa team and play Premiership games, he will be loaned out next season, same as they did with Archer and Ramsey last year.

And I wouldn’t be surprised that’s what they agreed with him too. It would be great if we could take him? We can hope.

I fear for Rogers, without any doubt at all he would have been better advised staying with the Boro for a few seasons until he was a properly established player with a track record.

I still say there was something funny about his transfer, maybe something we don’t know about.

Should of sold him and loaned him back to us for the rest of the season, he'd get more games with us.

I originally thought that would've happened, especially if we'd made it to the League Cup final as it would've been a sickner for the lad to miss out on a cup final in a competition he was instrumental in (top scorer and all). I suspect Boro and Villa would have come to some sort of agreement of a loan back if that had happened.

But in hindsight it probably would have been detrimental to the gametime development of players who are committed to us. Step forward Finn Azaz. Scored as many league goals in his first handful of appearances as Rogers did in 6 months ;)

I do think the lad would have developed into a better player with us though with the gametime he would have got. Now he'll go on loan to one of the relegated clubs next season imo and be back where he was when Man City signed him, a regular loan out.

This 100% (y)

He'll receive a substantial signing on fee and salary increase, like you said could set him up financially for life - if he's wise. From a football point of view, worst case scenario he ends up back on loan to a championship club but on much higher wages.
