Yeah it's nonsense.The idea that we approach players in negotiating going "Oh please sign for us, we promise to let you go the moment someone tries to sign you" is laughable to me. There might be the unspoken acknowledgement between both parties that we are likely a stepping stone for some of these players, but verbalising a "promise" to let them go is a pathetic approach to negotiation.
