More political threads than Boro related

There's a bit of a problem with that mate. They've escaped. I've searched the entire village and I can't find them anywhere. They drank half of my booze too before they went, the cheeky sods. I knew that I should have chained them up.

But anyway. Where does the post a picture of your cat or dog thread, or the Friday night booze and music thread, or the book threads, or the guitar threads fit in with all of this? They're not football threads and they're not politics threads either. And there are lots of them.

I've come to the conclusion that the main problem with this board is that there are too many threads about politics and not enough threads about the Japanese Electronica band Polysix.

We've had this conversation before mate. The only thing that you and I really disagree about is Starmer. We have a lot in common politically and yet I get more digs from you on here then I do from the people who vote for the Tories.

And that, in a nutshell, it the Thatchrite ideology, that people ultimately only care about themselves and their immediate family.

The same people argue that tackling racial injustice is "politics" too e.g. players shouldn't take the knee 'because its just politics innit'.

If that's aimed at me I could talk in length about the voluntary work I do, such as helping asylum seekers learn English, find work etc, or the number of lads around Teesside I have mentored to become engineers, particularly those like me who left school with nothing. Just because someone isn't interested in politics and stuff does not mean they are selfish or don't care about others.
Its not as black and white as that.....or red and blue.

It wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. It probably says a lot that you though that it was aimed at you though. As others have said on here it's a bit weird that most of the people who moan about politics threads on here claim to not be interested in politics but then still go on to have a go at the left and Labour. Those of us of who've been on here for a while have seen it all before mate.

I have been a visitor to this site for well over 20 years and used to be very active, so I aware of what you've seen.

I was replying to someone else and I made a general observation about our society and you immediately thought that I was having a go at you. I wasn't. And I'm not going to get in to an argument with you.

I'm not interested in arguing with anyone right now but if you've been a regular on here for 20 years, then how come you've apparently never seen the threads identical to this one which appear every single close-season, complaining about too many political threads and not enough footie ones?

Au contraire, I think most political views are tolerated provided they can offer reasoned debate and add depth to a conversation. The problem is that most of those that offer opposing views either don't add any substance other that either 'they're all the same' or 'would have been worse under Corbyn type rubbish'.

Additionally those with opposing views frustratingly ignore posts or threads that don't suit their narrative or are just abusive.

There are quite a number of posters on here who politics aside I find myself in agreement with often or have similar views on different topics or similar music tastes etc. There are also posters on here who attack Labour / Starmer / Corbyn at any opportunity with little soundbites or baseless, meaningless sentences a few words long then refuse to engage any further when they're proven to be wrong. They'll attack Labour all the time any yet won't say a word about child poverty for example and pretend they haven't seen or read threads.

In my time on this new board I have been told by a poster that they hope me and my children get cancer, someone threatened to stab me in the neck and another frequently states I laugh at mental illness when I've done no such thing and even provided a direct link to the quote and thread he was talking about. So I don't think people being intolerant is just a left v right argument to be quite honest.
 
Always the other side isn't it.

This boards mentality is all Tories are scum. It's pretty obvious. Most political threads aren't debates. They are contests.

I shouldn't single out this board though. It's pretty much all the internet. It is not a harmonious place. The era of tolerance ended some time ago.

Thats awful weegord, sorry to hear that mate, as we know there are some dispicable people in all walks of life, fortunatly, there are many more that are good, decent, caring people as opposed to the likes you had the misfortune of having a debate with

No matter what I say its still not nice to see such remarks next to your name, not nice at all
