Mood tomorrow ???

You missed out on the start of the 82/83 season then.
Now that was toxic.
After relegation we had hoped to bounce straight back up, but started with 3 successive 4-1 home defeats.
Looking back, the abuse Bobby Murdoch got was shameful. Personal and nasty.
Sadly we have had numerous times where we have had fans behaving in shockingly bad way. Murdochs era was awful, but as we know, the club was so badly run he was hung out to dry by the board at that time. The shameful scenes at Barnsley toward Mowbray and at Stoke toward Karanka were scenes that I never want to experience again. Stadiums are where we go to cheer and support, tension from the crowd passes quickly to the players and is self defeating. One of the joys of the messageboards is people can vent frustrations away from the stadium and clear any feelings in readiness to get behind the team at the next match.

Well why not frame it the other way? ‘Can you imagine the sense of relief if we win,’ or ‘can you imagine the buzz if we get an early goal tomorrow’ instead?

I’ve seen people say there’ll be toxicity in the stands if such and such happens for as long as I’ve posted on here and you can count the number of times it’s actually happened on one hand.
I can't really ever remember it happening at AP, but I was a kid. But in the Riverside days its happened numerous times - under McClaren, Southgate, Strachan, Monk and Pulis. Its the social media age, and it builds up in the days before a game. Some people do thrive on it though, and am sure some want it to happen just so they can say I told you so.

I've probably got a different definition of toxic to others if people think it's not really happened.

"Attack, attack, attack" under Karanka against West Ham felt pretty toxic at the time.
As did our own fans chanting for Guzan to get sent off against Southampton.

We're probably lucky that fans weren't allowed in the stadium against Swansea under Woodgate as that would have been incredibly toxic.

That's just off the top of my head for home matches, I'm sure there will have been more occasions.

Things never got bad enough at home under Warnock or Wilder to turn, and Pulis was doing okay for large periods of his time here in terms of results.

I’m talking before the game that is my point pre match atmosphere.

from a personal mood perspective pretty low to be honest have zero expectations, I have gone from top 3 (unrealistic expectations) to can't see us winning a game again, think it finally hit home how bad we are after the first halves against Blackburn and Shef Wed which was even worst up until them I thought we would be grand not so sure now, but still have a bit of hope from the second half performances :)

I am embarrassed to say that at half time on Tuesday I actually checked to see what the low points record for the Championship/2nd tier is.

The general mood will be quietish you would think but the south stand will be well up for it and hopefully it rubs off on the team. I don’t think we’re anywhere near toxic levels TBH. I don’t think we should take the tone of this message board as representative of the supporters’ mood overall.

Hopefully it won't t regress to the holgate back in the day, with Boro folk chanting 'we hate Stockton' and battles breaking out between districts of Teesside.

Going to be pretty awful. If we start fast, it may help calm the storm but if we start slow, misplaced passes and appear negative then the booing will start which will just add to the tension.

I am worried about tomorrow

I think the mood is much worse than this message board. Most posters on this board are sebsible(ish) people. Yes we have both ends of the spectrum in terms of glass being empty and glasses overflowing but I would like to think the posters on this board aren't the type of people who hurl abuse at players etc.

When you read facebook/twitter there are far more extreme and abusive posts than what you see on this board.

When you throw alcohol/cocaine infused d1ckheads into the mix which are inevitable at the Boro, the mood will be far worse than you see on here. The south stand will do their best but they were subdued by the time the second half came against QPR as well.

If we concede first on Saturday, it won't be nice
