Millwall fans booing players taking the knee

Millwall must surely have all ‘fans’ details in order so they could coordinate the ticket issue . It won’t be hard to identify the faction using video footage , and the culprits will be even more identifiable due to space around them and it’s likely they won’t have face masks on ( apparently you dont have to wear them once in your seat ).
Thus just ban them outright .
Spot on, but they won't ban them, they will come up with some nonsense about them being a community club, they will investigate and take whatever action is necassay. Then the same thing will happen next time. I just don't understand them, have they just been waiting to get back in the stadium so they could boo a movement which is trying to eradicate racism.

Even though it meant Wayne Rooneys Derby won, I am so glad they got beat. I know its lost on them but us tier 3 fans would give our right arm to watch football live again and that's what they do on their return.

Horrible racist club and horrible racist fans. I know you are trying to cut down on the swearing on here Rob but actions like this really boil my proverbial!!!

I listened to Talksport when they did the pre match talk live and they did it then and the talksport correspondent couldn’t believe it . They were bellowing it out and it wasn’t just a pocket of them .
Talksport stopped short of apologising . There’ll certainly be consequences , of that I’m hopeful and sure

I don't get why you would possibly boo this? Apart from the obvious reason of course.

What's the thinking? Can anyone explain it? Couple on this thread apparently think there is some reason to boo.

Enlighten me

There is an obvious reason - racism.
There is another option - like millions of others they subscribe to ‘all lives matter’ as a mantra.
I don’t agree with the booing but I do understand it.
And, I don‘t believe the mantra of ‘ALM’
My personal view is I would rather encourage an open discussion about the merits of BLM.

All clubs have fans who are racist or do not agree with BLM. The difference is Millwall fans are making a noise about it.

I’m sure Millwall fans crave the infamy . “ no one likes us we don’t care “ and all that !

I personally would not boo players choosing to make a gesture/statement. I think it is very disrespectful and unnecessary.

But what action could legally be taken?
If it was as widespread as stated, then what do you really expect Millwall to actually do?
They must be a difficult club to lead.

In my opinion, they could have diplomatically expressed their point by claiming that ‘All Lives Matter’ rather than acting like the usual buffoons they portray.

sad to see so many defending their "right" to be racist
I dont see anyone defending racism, that certainly wasnt my intention.

For the record, I find what they did was disgusting, it was clearly planned in advance.

I also don’t believe it was every fan. Tarring all Millwall fans with the same brush is wrong.

I also don’t think banning those responsible for life will achieve anything. I do think some white people feel marginalised for whatever reasons, and as a society we need to address this. How, no idea.

Whats the story behind the Boro team not taking the knee ? I never read it anywhere. And as far as I can see no one takes the knee. Is that true?

So I presume its a collective decision ?

It has to be all or none otherwise it would send out the wrong signal from those that didn't

FA response is pathetic and it's not mentioned at all on Millwall website or twitter feed. Shouldn't be hard to id fans via cctv and ticket allocation and take some action, I'm afraid it just shows how far those running football have to come let alone Millwall's cave-dwelling fans

Britt himself came out and said he wanted to stop it and felt other actions were now necessary, such as the good work they've done with local schools.

I didn't know clubs were still doing it this season actually but to be fair it has been a while since I have watched a full 90mins.

Britt explains why.

Assombalonga decided as captain that we should stop doing it, inspired by QPR as it's ultimately symbolic and it's changing absolutely nothing to continue doing it.
Action is needed, not just symbolism that people just zone out for now as it's been done so much.

He's not wrong either, some clubs will have done it 25 games in a row now and the only change in English football in that time seems to have been the head of the FA resigning for bigoted comments.

Thankfully, the only time they knelt in front of Boro fans, they were applauded.

Said on another thread - they have the right to show their displeasure.

That's right, it's a free country.

By the same token, everyone, including Millwall fans, has the right to walk around with a massive dildo glued to their head.

It's their problem if people call them d***heads, right?

As much as I disagree with them they are not alone in their views by a long way. Just more prepared to voice their thoughts.

Be interesting to see how the club reacts and indeed how players react. Taking the knee, or not, in my view ought to be a personal choice.
To continue doing it whilst being booed will be a strong and positive stance to take.

Really?..they have a right to do they?
A right to boo players showing solidarity with people who've suffered horrendous racial discrimination?
With a protest against decades upon decades of instutionalised racist abuse of footballers and football fans?
With a positive stance to encourage equality and fairness?

You're obviously not a racist so I cannot fathom why you'd think these knuckle dragging pathetic inadequates have the right to demonstrate how racist and ignorant they are.
