Yeh, he will be slumming it, I'm totally sure.
Him, Gums and their spawn will be doing without - of course they will. No doubt that they will be using a food bank or missing meals so that their inbred kids can eat turkey swizzles. Of course they will be wearing jumpers in the house and sleeping in the same room when the gas is cut off in winter.

I will be amazed if there isn't an election this year or spring next year. The tories know that things are going to get worse and whilst now it's a bad time for them, next year will be worse and they know it.

They will have to balance gerrymandering against a failed brexit.

I am coming around to agreeing with you. They need to go to the polls quickly when they see the opportunity given that by the end of their initial 5 years we will be in a pretty rotten place. When all the promises will be shown to have been an utter sham. They will be surprised by how the northern vote held up and will hope the southern disasters will be offset by the first past the post system.

It saddens and angers me that the majority of people where I work (near Whitby) think Johnson and his shysters are doing a good job ! There was a dozy old cow on the TV the other morning said she will vote Tory again because "Boris is naughty but nice" it beggars belief

If he and the brain Truss unilaterally ditch the NI protocol it will threaten the Belfast Agreement, which is the DUP’s ultimate aim…then they will be responsible for any ‘events’ and repercussions of this happening.
Adding to the death toll of his mishandling of the early onset of Covid.
 
Slightly off topic, I was watching Gove on sky news this morning and the old trope about reducing VAT on fuel to 0% was brought up, as it has been multiple times. Ignoring that the government said they would remove VAT on fuel once we left the EU and we couldn't do that whilst in the EU. This is at best disingenuous and at worst an outright lie. The EU regulations on fuel VAT was you could not reduce it below the VAT rate when you joined the EU. Our VAT on fuel was 0% when we joined the EU so we were free to reduce it to 0% whilst in the EU. I may be wrong about this, but I don't think so. Why do journalists not point this out, and why wasn't it pointed out at the time of brexit.

I wonderr whether journalists either just are not very well informed or are they in cahoots? It was Kay Buley this morning whom I think does try to hold the government to account, I just don't think they do a very good job.

Another example of this is journalists calling Starmer a hypocrit for not resigning when investigated for having a beer during lockdown when he asked Johnson to do just that. He did no such thing, he insisted Johnson setp down because he lied to parliament.

The standard of journalism is very poor, in my opinion.

One other factor they may be keeping an eye on is Labour's finances. The party isn't getting the mass funding it was a few years ago and so far haven't been able to replace it with the big business donations they were hoping would come in. The Fire Brigade Union are voting this week on whether or not to remain affiliated to the Labour Party. They're obviously not on the same level as Unite, Unison and GMB but it could still end up as more money out the door. The longer the party goes on like that the less able they'll be to contest elections.

Although having said that, maybe the restricted finances will force the party in to the sort of progressive pacts a lot of people are hoping for!
