So our three man midfield..

Crooks—Howson—McGree

Backed up by..

Neebody—Luongo—Mowett

a few players were floating around the first team last season..

Boyd-Munce, Gibson, Conteh, Hackney, Fletcher

Change to a two man (central) midfield..

Howson—Crooks

Backed up by..

Luongo—McGree

We’re stronger in my opinion with 4-2-3-1

Personally speaking I would have mcnair and Howson/Mowatt playing deep midfield Clayton leadbitter style and have mcgree as the free man playing behind a front two. Attack from wide areas. Very solid in the middle. Under Karanka we had little pace in the midfield, but we were solid as a rock as we were disciplined.

Karanka played 4-2-3-1 Chris Wilder has prepped for 5-3-2 all summer, even if he wanted to abandon the blue print.. that itself would take time to implement. He’s sticking to his guns
