I may have a chance to speak to them both privately tonight. (if they both turn up)

It is an Arsenal Legends night..... however

Any questions and/or statement you would like to me ask them if I get the opportunity?

Cheers
RW

Ask them if they have any interest in Boro results any more.

I know the answer but be interesting to their reaction to you hahah

Yeah, to Merson.
"Why did you absolutely slate and blame the gambling culture at Boro as your reason/excuse for wanting to leave, when your unemployed brother was putting bets on for thousands of £££ every week in Middlesbrough?"

Oh, and you were magic whilst at Boro, just about got us promoted single-handed.

Hmm.. neither seems to particularly want to be here.. judging by their comments in the media.

It seems were spoke of as a bit of a cash cow with no real affection.

I can understand both tbh.. Ray Parlour was coming to the end of his career and shipped out by Gareth Southgate.

Paul Merson plagued by his addictions will have no doubt been uncomfortable with Paul Gascoigne in the squad.. another one who does not seem to have a particularly favourable opinion of us.

Ray Parlour 60 appearances 04-06
Paul Merson 58 appearances 97-98
Paul Gascoigne 48 appearances 98-99

Maybe I’d have rather we kept Jonathan Greening over signing Ray Parlour.

I’d rather have seen Stuart Ripley here over Paul Merson.. Paul Gascoigne.. I’d rather have seen Keith Gillespie.

I suppose it goes both ways really.. I didn’t particularly have an affinity for any one of them. Maybe Ray Parlour if I had to pick.

So.. Ray.. the Romford Pele.. what was the best experience you had playing for Middlesbrough?

Merson had far more to his game than Rippers, as much as I loved watching him play.

" hi Paul, do established top flight players Andy Townsend, Robbie Mustoe, Craig Hignett, Gianluca Festa, Emerson, Nigel Pearson, Marco Branca and Mark Schwarzer mind that some fans seem to think we were a one man team in that promotion season?"

“Hi Paul, even though you didn’t find form until October and weren’t even our best player until Emerson left in the November, do you agree that you got us promoted single-handedly in 1998?”

I suspect that’ll have been the time he made the whole dressing room laugh. Shortly after Gareth Southgate became manager…..have you heard this one?
Ray, let me get this right. As a senior player you undermined your mate when he was first trying to establish himself as a manager and did so using a schoolyard insult?

Yeah, cool story 👍

Always find it odd he's so pleased with himself about it. Crap joke that makes him come across as a nob.

I'd love to ask Merson did your bottle go at the thought of facing the Premiership with that group of players. So took a big payday and threw your mates under the bus.
