McNair in talks with 2 clubs

Football fans are so fickle. There were periods where he was a real class player for us and one of the first names on the team sheet, under several managers. His dip in form coincided with playing in a chop and change back line under Wilder when absolutely everything was going belly up, on and off the pitch.
He really hasn’t deserved the over the top criticism levelled at him recently.
I wish him well and hope he gets a decent move.

He is expensive for what he offers.
If we can afford to retain him then he is good cover.

If we can get a good fee for him then it would make sense to move him on, but he would go with good wishes from me.
I wouldn't have signed him - or Howson for that matter - but they have both put everything they have in for us, and that matters a lot to me.

The measure isn't whether he a good player, or not, it's whether he represents good value for us and given he's a big earner and not in the first 11 it's an inevitable situation where we look to maximise our expenditure.

Good luck to him, he's been a good player for us, but probably hindered by the fact he can play in several positions.

Superb servant. Met him once at a pre season game and he was a gent, a really nice down to earth lad. Good luck to him if he moves on.

Over his time here, he's been one of our best players.

Form has fallen off this year, and it probably is time to move on.

But some fans always need to be on someone's back: it's about them, not the player.

If everyone in the team and on the bench is doing well, they'll pick on someone not in the squad and accuse them of stealing a living.

He has been a quite superb player fot us until his dip this season. I think he deserves more respect after being Mr Consistent all over the pitch, hardly missing a game, even when playing so many international games.
Everyone should surely only wish him well with his career.
He's never moaned or done a 'Ronaldo'. BUT

His performances last season were also mediocre. I'm happy for him in that there are other options available, but I'm even happier he's off the wage bill and not going to continue to put in sub-standard performances for us.

If there is any truth in it I would have thought Sunderland would be in the mix along with Norwich. I'm surprised Rangers haven't been mentioned tbh
