McGree

Can we afford to keep him in this team given how often he loses the ball in dangerous positions playing on the left. IMHO he’s too much of a luxury player for our current predicament, would probably look good in a decent team but not right for a relegation scrap.

Bola left back and Giles further forward to me until crooks gets fit or we sign another midfielder.

He’ll have to raise his game to stay in a carrick side. As there’s no fooling our manager now about what makes a good midfielder.

We haven't kept him in the team, until given a run of games he'll never feel established and gain the confidence required to perform consistently.

I agree with this. There's a very good player in there. He's an Aussie therefore by his very nature will be very competitive. He needs a run of games. We've seen him play well in the past and I want to see him kept in the frame and I believe the performances will come.

He does give the ball away too easily and his control is really poor for the type of player he is.

One thing that for me was a positive last night was at the end of the game when Carrick went over to him, Mcgree looked totally ***ed off with himself. He obviously knew he had a poor game.

We don't play with an orthodox left winger so playing bola and giles would see a change in shape. Giles certainly cant do the same job as Mcgree (sitting inside) as he has the same issues. Slow thought process, lacks control and poor in the tackle.

Keep the same team for me. Although Mcgree and Giles need to improve various areas of their game.

Bola LB Giles LM. McGree cover in CM. If he doesn’t score he doesn’t affect the game, very similar to Savile.

Carrick wouldn't have started him unless he saw something in training.
He'll work with him to sort his 1st touch out and possession.
McGree has been given a lifeline to kick-start his career and the opportunity to impress.
Hope he takes it.
I have more faith in him than Giles

I don’t really care about Giles progression though he’s here to do a job for a season as he’s not our player mcgree though is

Giles is a natural left sided player and deserves a chance in the Left mid position. I feel McGree is just being shoe horned into the team, he looks a lazy player through what I've seen, not impressed.

Could it be worth trying Jones wide left, especially when Watmore is fit again and he can start on the right. Jones played wide left when he first broke through under Warnock and impressed.

It would be a shame for Giles to lose his place but he's been poor for some time now, and I'm not convinced he would be effective playing wide left.

I like Mcgree, he's a forward thinking player that can pick out a killer pass, which to be honest we are a bit short of. I love that he always shows for the ball in tight areas, think half his issues giving the ball away, is we actually don't get it to him quickly enough, we take an extra touch or touches, before passing, and the pocket of space he's found closes in.
He did last night on at least two occasions pull out of a 50/50, given he's off to a world cup in a couple of weeks, hardly surprising. He does need to improve on his positional/recovery without the ball, but could be a real key player for us going forward, think Carrick will improve him
