Matt Crooks

He is level with Barry Robson and Wing with 7 league goals in a season from central midfield (ignoring penalties as Leadbitter got 11 one year but 8 were pens). This is the best from central midfield since Juninho got 8 in 2003/04 and he got 12 in 96/97.

So he's gonna be in illustrious company if he gets on more and 2 more it'll be best goal return for 26 years in that position. Fair play to him, he has kept the scoring up for 6 months and his target now should be double figures and then some some.
 
About 6mil less than Saville and a far better player. I still shake my head at some of the fees we paid under Monk and Pulis.

I saw enough of McGree in 20 mins to think he's got something about him.

The recruitment team deserve some credit. That said I don't think there's any doubt that Crooks was a Warnock signing (along with Bamba/Peltier / Uche/Lumley).
 
I don't think it's fair to compare his numbers with Juninho or Ramirez, neither had defensive duties they were pure number 10s.

I suppose a couple of Crooks goals have come from him playing off the striker, but in terms of a goal threat in open play from a number 8 type central midfielder (where he's spent most of the season) he's probably the best since Zenden. I'll be surprised if he doesn't reach double figures.
 
@festa5 yeah diff role, but I have to create a boundary somewhere, so bunched anyone who plays centrally and is a midfield type of role including 10s. Of course the little fella was a league higher.
 
Back him every game to score at anytime , won me bundles over his time here , champo is his level mind , but despite the criticism he is very good goalscoring MF at the level
 
Flawed but important player for us, would love to see him showing the energy he had in his first 4 months again, because he went flat at the end of last season and started this off not looking fully fit and healthy
 
He really seemed to go off the boil after the man utd game for me. Maybe the emotion of that game,given what it meant to him, was hard to recover from.
