Maskless Tory MP gets Covid

Had Rees Mogg not come out with his condescending and pathetic remarks a few days ago then this wouldn't be met with such schadenfreude.
I've consistently railed against this government for lack of leadership and this is just yet another example of them failing to set a good example.
As we tragically saw the other week, an MP comes into contact with large numbers of people throughout their week. This should trigger quite a lot of work for our world beating track and trace system.

they are discussions on making sure random nutters don't attack them in their surgeries, but won't take basic precautions about an infectious disease that attacks people in very random ways.

The only camparison made was that everyone is going to get it, multiple times, just like the flu. I didn't compare it's severity.
It’s not so much that people were having a go for catching it, but doing nothing to prevent it or prevent passing to anyone else whilst in a position of power and influence is just completely stupid, especially when it’s something that has significantly changed all of our lives over the last few years

Because as has been discussed many many many times before there are reasons people don't wear masks. (disclaimer I don't know if the MP in question has any reason not to).
There are very, very few medical reasons that would truly preclude an adult from wearing a mask.

Basically the only ones are a serious skin condition or being physically or mentally incapacitated.

See video below where this is explained in detail by a pulmonary medicine specialist.

As I said that discussion has been done to death already.

My point still stands, I'm not comfortable with people been mocked for catching covid regardless of what colour tie they wear.

Were these same people mocking gay men for catching AIDS because they didn't wear a condom back in 80's?

A very good comparison Randy.

Who’s mocking? Point is very valid that they are refusing to wear masks in a building that everyone else has to, and could have potentially passed it onto loads of people through nothing but their own selfishness, at the time they should be encouraging the public to act responsibly

Regardless of which party you represent it’s completely reckless and extremely selfish

Everyone is going to get covid. Would people have a go at people contracting the flu or any other virus?

Well, when the Health Secretary is telling people to wear a mask to "think about others around them" then it's fair criticism.

The amount of distraction and deflection that people will go towards with this government is embarrassing, to be honest.

They're literally telling us to do something that they refuse to do themselves.

If those people were telling everyone else to wear a condom but they don't need to because they were only having convivial sex then it's a good comparison.

I think Randy's point is, call out the hypocrisy by all means, but don't celebrate the result. There are some posters who appear gleeful, without actually saying that.

Randy is not distracting nor deflecting, as he has been accused of, he is simply applying some moral fiber to the conversation.

Apologies @Randy if that is not the case.

Well, I'm certainly not gleeful. These are people who are treating the non-mask wearing as a badge of honour, in the knowledge that they could well be super spreaders of this disease, bearing in mind their combined travel patterns around the country.

They're an absolute disgrace.
No but you did suggest Randy was deflecting, which I don't believe is the case.

I'm not angry.

Just baffled. I'm not a fan of Tory party members by and means but won't mock them for catching a disease. One does wonder if this thread would have been made if the person in question was a Labour party member?
If Keir starmer had stood up in Parliament and said that Labour MPs don't have to wear masks because they're all good friends and work closely together; unlike the Tory party, and then he got covid a few days later, can you try and tell me there would not be a thread on it?

Surely you won't, because there would.
