Martin Payero

"
As it transpired in the last few hours, Middlesbrough of England, which today plays in the Championship (Second Division), has an agreement with the leadership of Banfield to take Martin Payero for 8 million dollars after the Olympic Games.

What had been assuming for a long time seems to finally be given and Javier Sanguinetti will be left without one of his greatest figures to face the new championship: Payero would finally emigrate to football in England, more precisely to Boro.

The sum is pretty good for the context in which world football finds itself: $8 million for 90 percent of the pass. now... Will that really be the transfer figure or will it happen the same as when Julian Carranza was sold to MLS?

At that time, the sale of the attacker was announced allegedly for 6 million dollars, but a document to which Contracara had access shows that the reality is that the transfer was made for 2 million dollars."

Yeah, sounds like there are some kind of deals going on with Argentinian players where the cost isn't what is being reported. Maybe it's managing the local fan expectations, maybe it's part ownership in some form or maybe it's heavily performance related. But I reckon he is signing but for far less than the figure quoted. I mean on Radio Tees, Warnock pretended to have no idea who he was, before confirming that we have looked at South America due to Leo, then he confirmed that Ikpeazu has been reported at 1mill but it's only just over half that (550 or 600 I guess?) and it's heavily performance related to get up to 1mill. Why would he tell that story in relation to the Martin Payero story if we are not after him?

For this to be true, I can only assume a certain someone has found something down the back of his sofa or won Euromillions a few weeks back. I just can’t believe it is true. I so want it to be true though🤞

So this means they are reporting its 5.8 million pounds!

He also said last night theres no chance we will spending transfer fees like that on a player.

The two million mark feels about the top end of what we could pay which is in line with the article (where what is reported and what is actually paid are substantially different) - hope it’s true maybe we will have a new South American samba star!!

exactly, which isn't the same as we are not signing that player. I reckon it'll be just under half that but with large promotion payments. Which makes him about the same price as Akpom who we could afford to sign a year ago

Tango star, surely

We should be able to pay $2m up front that's about £1.4m. It will be an investment gamble. Its around 70% of Britt's wages.

That article does mention another transfer where a club said a player moving to MLS was going for a big fee and paperwork later said it was about a third of that amount
