Marcus Forss

cant agree, you can't carry passengers anymore, it'll be exploited by any half decent coach.

I remember when we had Kris Boyd, he could finish and his minutes per game with us wasn't poor (1 goal every 253 mins), but, he waddled around the pitch not contributing when we didn't have the ball and we let in too many goals because the opposition could come out with the ball under no pressure. I remember in one game might have been QPR, he let the goalkeeper come 40 yards out with the ball and ping it into our box, didn't put any pressure on him. Happened 5 or 6 times then they scored.

You can't allow that in the modern game. Got to pressure the ball, got to cut the pitch in half.

There is a huge difference between 0% effort like Boyd and some effort. I wouldn't expect a striker to be as good at pressing as Watmore but I'd hope he can be relied on to at least put the effort in, 75% of the difference between Boyd & Watmore say, and take his chances when they come. If finishing is what they do best then it can make up for some of the other negatives. It's infinitely better than being able to press but not being able to kick a football like Connolly.

Not a good sign being a champo sub for the 18th team though, not getting a game behind an Iranian scoring a goal every 538 minutes.

Forss stats for Brentford look good though, maybe it's a horses for courses problem at Hull, and he may eb different here, maybe more like the Brentford stats.

Hull were a mess, they changed manager and owner not long after he came in IIRC. Loanees can often find themselves on the fringes. Like you say his Brentford stats are a better gauge

Yes Boyd and Watmore are opposite ends of the spectrum, but there are plenty of other supposed top champ goalscorers that never go any higher because they don't put enough effort in off the ball. Good examples being Britt, Rhodes and Grabban. It's why none have had any kind of prem career or been the star man in a promoted side.

Latest forward linked

Brentford, 23 Yr old, Finnish international. On loan at Hull last season, 1 in 11 and apparently wasn't very good......

Never heard of him, so ........

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
FFS yet another dud.
When was the last time we had a decent striker? Bamford?

Gyokeres and Forss would be superb, our viking strikeforce
Would be a superb partnership.

Gyokores the complete striker who can play, press, hold up, and score and ruffle feathers and Forss the dynamic one touch, sharp fox in the box type striker.

Will be delighted if we sign the pair of them. Then 2 signed permanently and then a loan for someone like Archer from the premier league would be great business.

Middlesbrough target Marcus Forss has not travelled on Brentford‘s pre-season tour of Germany while fellow striker Halil Dervisoglu looks increasingly likely to get a chance in the first team next term, according to The Athletic.

Forss was sent out on loan to Hull City in January and has now been linked with a move to the Riverside as they look to recruit new strikers ahead of the 2022/23 Championship campaign.

The 23-year-old still has four years left on his contract with the Bees but it seems he may not be part of Thomas Frank’s plans for the new season.

Hardly, that's mostly sub appearances.

When Brentford went up he scored 7 in the equivalent of 12 full matches
He got 11 in 15 full matches of game time at Wimbledon

Beyond that he has about 8 more champ games worth of game time, 2 goals and about 2 prem games worth.

The bit he is mostly getting bashed for is Hull, he played the equivalent of 5 games and scored 1 and 1 assist. but 5 games isn't enough to judge someone.

So to sum it up, most of his short career is sub appearance, that total about 37 full matches. He has 21 goals in 37 full matches of game time. If he can convert that goal scoring to full matches at the same rate, he'll be a brilliant goalscorer. It's a big IF of course, but then we aren't buying the finished article, of a prime champ goalscorer, because we can't afford to.
Yes we can. If he is a starter then we have a poor season ahead.
I don’t think he will be.

Well that's an opinion, I'm not sure I'd share that, certainly wouldn't write him off or us off like that without at least watching him closely a bit more

What do you base all these negative opinions on?

When Brentford got promoted, Forss had one of the best goals per minute records in the championship, and he was only 21.
