Marcus Betinelli stats

Think it's safe to say a GK is one of the priorities.

You don't realise how great it is to have a superb one until don't. How many times did Randolph save us with a worldie save? Under pulis we were constantly only ever 1-0 or 2-1 and he'd produce a moment of magic almost every game. Just one moment out of nothing wins the points.

To be honest we've been as bad with keepers as forwards. Randolph was the best we'd had since Skippy. We've had a lot of average or dross ones in between.

Warnock had a couple of decent keepers at Cardiff. I wonder if either will be targets?. I see Cardiff bought that philips from Charlton (we were linked). He's looked class in the few games I've seen him.
Yeah Dillion Philips looked the business. We obviously prioritised other areas.

I think out of the stats that are posted on there, this one is the most damming. One of the top five most protected keepers in the champo..

I wonder whether there might be a decent keeper in Stojanoivc? Maybe he can come back and fill the role between the sticks?
I always thought he was a flapper when the ball came into the box which I would guess is main priority for a Warnock goal keeper: he needs to be big and commanding of his box.. also he couldn't shift Pears from #1 so tells you everything to need to know.

Thanks for posting this as I’m sick of people defending him but what about this or he’s not that bad etc

well your graph proves what we have been saying for weeks now and that his that’s he’s a poor keeper or an underperforming one at this level. And we deserve better so worst in this league hmm interesting but not surprising

nice to see the truth in stats

My gut feeling is that we have had worse and we have had better. I feel more confident with him than say Pears last season, but he's not as as good as say Mark Schwarzer.
Your gut feeling is wrong he’s shocking and not in the same breath as Schwarzer more like the equally awful Guzan and he was appalling

On number of goals conceeded Bettenelli must be in the top 8 in the division - its matter of what stats are used with keepers.

Randolph was better but he was £4.5m? and probably higher wages so you would expect that compared with a third choice keeper on loan.

Dimi never had many saves to make so it was hard to judge how good he was, Under AK we played a lot of keep ball.

I remember Dimi making some cracking saves!! We had the best back 6 in all divisions tho.. all of which I remember through rose tinted spectacles.

Very interesting statistics those.

The "exists" and distribution are down to the style of play/instruction (I'm sure he was probably used to playing it short more often at Fulham?)

That said, his shot stopping and tendency to win balls in the air are areas for concern. I'd fully expect a new, experienced keeper in the Summer, presumably someone Warnock has worked with before?

Paddy Kenny has been training with the reserves :)

Unfortunately he just isn't good enough. People talk about where we would be with a decent striker.. but what about if we had a decent keeper?! Third lowest number of shots faced and lowest save percentage in the league says it all 🥺

Whilst I don't think he'll be here next season, I don't think he's a s poor as the stats suggest.

I think one specific ability that NW was looking for in a keeper was one who is a strong kicker; Bettinelli has that and maybe that influenced our choice?

Those stats are very crude. Leaving your line = good and staying on your line = bad is utter nonsense. The shot stopping stat is interesting.
That's the damning stat for me. I've always had the feeling that he "doesn't save anything" and we seem to concede goals where he hasn't made a mistake as such, but you kind of expect a keeper to keep out. Looks like that perception isn't just in my head when you see the stats.

I would have Pears before him any day of week. Bettinelli is an awful keeper. NW got rid of Pears far to quickly, he is only a kid and should have been on a season long loan to a lower league club. Then returned here as back up for next season hopefully pushing the new keeper for a 1st team spot.

which of these keepers could be a go-er in the summer?

I'd love to get Samba from Forest but they'd want at least 4 mill
Dieng at QPR has decent stats, but he's only been there a year, so long contract, maybe 3mill for him?
Woodman on loan?
