Mandalorian

And I’d be even more interested to know what the initial plan for episode 9 was before they decided to throw all the scripts out the window and bring Palpatine back from the dead.
this ***** me off more than most things about star wars. clearly no plan for 7/8/9 and 2 different directors that entered a d*ck swinging competition with each other. they should have had a clear plan for the full 3 episode arc before they started filming. Disney were just so desperate to get the movies out for the $$$$$$$$$$$

"Years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire." is Leia identifying herself and making a plea on behalf of her 'father'.

Why didn't she just talk about that time Obi-Wan scoured the galaxy (and almost blew his mission to keep Luke safe) to rescue her?
This is what baffles me about star wars fans. The failure to be able to suspend their disbelief. Stuff like this really shouldn't matter or factor into your enjoyment of a movie. I just get the feeling people sit down with a overcritical eye, and that if they watched the original movies the same way they wouldn't have been into star wars in the first place.

Star wars has always been full of them. Rebel ships flying directly at the empire instead of another bit of space. The death star having a tiny hole that will blow up the whole station if you hit it.

And most of all. Hiding Luke Skywalker with his aunt and uncle. AND NOT BOTHERING TO CHANGE HIS LAST NAME!!!! I mean this is pretty much the equivalent of putting a lampshade on your head when playing hide and seek.

Suspension of disbelief is being able to accept space-ships and lightsabers and the force.

It doesn't mean you have to accept billion dollar companies churning out garbled nonsense.

The Death Star 'hole' was put there deliberately. It's what Rogue One was all about.

That's just a ret con. The actual reason it is there is because George Lucas correctly surmised that the kids going to see his movies would not care about such inconsequential nonsense.

And as I've said the garbled nonsense is nothing less egregious than what had gone before.

Yeah tbf I'll give you that one, it does make it seem daft that she wouldn't mention it.

Retcon means when something that was previously established as canon (something that is accepted as being true from the author's previous works) is essentially ripped up and changed. Basically where they contradict something in the story and it becomes the new "truth". An example, in Harry Potter professor McGonagal's age was stated somewhere I think, and then in the second fantastic beasts film she is seen teaching at hogwarts, when actually she should be a student or a young child. So there they've changed the story and we have to accept that the previous source material is wrong
I’m not sure that’s really what a ret con is. It’s adding additional information to give you a new perspective on what you have seen previously.

Obi Wan did a decent job of this for my money. If the first time he met Vader after ROTS was in a new hope, the dialogue makes little sense. It makes much more sense now we’ve seen OWK

There's retcons and there's retcons. Adding new information that doesn't change what went before isn't an issue.

Changing the whole storyline and adding massive plot-holes is.

I'm not going to pretend George Lucas was the worlds greatest writer - he clearly wasn't - but the original trilogy is largely self-consistent.

I've not seen the Game Of Thrones final series but the reaction to it was enough to make me not bother (until I have a load of free time with nothing better to do). Even super-fans are allowed to be discerning.

Consistent? Luke Skywalker spends half the first movie wanting to **** his sister! Doesn't that cause you trouble? :D

Superfans are allowed to be discerning? I'd say most superfans tend to be overly discerning and hate 90% of content put out.

This weeks episode is brilliant.
As I previously mentioned it’s set up for a great ending. Hopefully involve Ahsoka and Thrawn
