Manager Or Chairmen

You do understand why there are no potential investors in a club he has made worth MINUS £110m plus ?

The outlook is gloomy then. At some point either the dept will be called by Gibson or his family. Unless he decides to write the debt off and sell the club at a loss.

It's not the chairman. He's backed Wilder with 12 signings. I imagine the likes of Giles and Stefan cost a small fortune in loan fees etc.

You don't see many champo clubs spending nearly 6 mil on 2 forwards and not playing them.

I'm sick of him moaning about not getting the players he needs. We've a better side than Cardiff and Reading etc. So no excuses. Get them coached or change the formation.

You seem to be in a state of misguidedness if you think the owner is hands free - seek a common denomenator over the last 15 years and ye shall smell the coffee.

The Kenyon one was a strange one…

How did we even attract someone of his calibre to the club? Even in an advisory / consultancy capacity?

And more importantly, why the hell did we stop employing him?
He lived next door to him in Jersey or something. Was a Channel Islands thing.

We also had Adrian Bevington for a bit who’s a big hitter, and am I misremembering or didn’t we have a brief and fruitless informal linkup with one of the super agents?

I'd love him to sell as he has failed since Eindhoven. His judgement is consistently horrendous.
I have no expectation of winning trophies or European Football, or top 6 challenges, but we have been below our historical average since being relegated in 2009.
I can cope with not being in the top flight so long as we make real efforts to get back very quickly.

But the truth is he can't sell because he has created something that nobody in their right mind would buy.
It is well over £110m underwater. It is kept afloat because he has guaranteed not to recall within 12 months the £120m plus his company is owed by the club to cover the losses his decisions have produced.
Why would anybody pay anything for his equity for something that is worth MINUS £110m (prior to last season)?

He clearly has decided he will invest no more. We are stuck in treacle. He can't get out without winding the club up and losing his cult status. We can't have a club without him as things stand.

Saying you want a new owner is futile, it just won't happen.
The only time in the last 16 years when good decisions were made at the club is when Kenyon was here.
He departed and with it went the brain.

At least you have the balls to say you want him to sell up. Some are happy just moaning about him but not going that far. I respect you for that.

Thing is we are one of the 90% of clubs who are just kind of anonymous. We were spoilt with the Premier League, Carling Cup and Europe - maybe that's why some struggle to accept our new place in the football pyramid.

Even when travelling home and away to watch us in Europe I was aware that this was a blip - we wouldn't be a team challenging for Europe every year. I suppose the appointment of Southgate confirmed that and it was one of Gibson's worst ever decisions. I can live with that though.

Look at Bolton - our Carling Cup opponents. It's a small mercy that we didn't end up like them. They had Europe, cup finals and seasons in the EPL but they ended up financially ruined. Maybe we should count our blessings that Gibson would rather we remained in the Championship financially secure than ending up with a winding up order. Although I appreciate on current form our league position doesn't look so secure!!

£110m in debt. Wilder clueless. I'm amazed we have so many football experts on the board. Gibson must be sat in his boardroom with his fingers in his ears singing la la la la la ;)

There is absolutely no maybe about it.
This. Sheer stupidity.
Come up with someone. anyone that would want to take on a club that loses £10millions year after year.
You can't. Ever. Because they arent there.
The leagues are littered with fly by night owner disasters that come in and destroy clubs
Give me Gibson any and every day of the week.

I'll say it again. We are a mid-table Championship Club that loses money year after year to stay there.
No harm in dreaming that we can do a Brentford, and we sort of did for a time.
But if you want Soverign Wealth funds and £50m+ signings pop up the road and leave us to the reality of where we are.

👏 Well said. Those crying like Geordies should maybe pop up the road and support them.

There is no shame in being a mid-table championship side. One season it might all come together and we can get promoted but I'm no glory fan - there is more to life than the Premier League. I have been there in the good times - I won't start slagging Gibson off when things aren't going so well. I'm sure he's not trying to make us worse and for us to cost him more money.

I struggle to deal with your seeming ignorance.
I have been saying for years now that we are stuck with each other.
There is no investor who will take on, let alone pay the fool for what HE has done.
We CAN"T move on from him, he can only move on from us.
And he won't.
I have no doubt he thinks in his own little world that he is the ONLY person who could possibly lead the club. Only he has the knowledge and experience to do so, and that he cares more than anybody else; is Mr Middlesbrough.
Well, the position the club is in means there is no alternative.

The following outcomes are what could happen re ownership:
1. He finds somebody else who will take the club on. In order to do so he will have to write off the vast majority of what his Company have guaranteed. He won't do that because he will then have actually put in the money the club has lost since 2006.
2. He converts the £120m plus debt into equity, as he did in 2012, 2014 and 2016 - to the tune of £63m. He won't do this as he HAS then put that £120m in, nothing much he can do to get it back. With loans he always has options, largely hypothetical, but important to his Group.
3. The Group refuses to continue guaranteeing the losses made outside the PL, which means the club would fold, he would lose most of the loans and get nothing for his equity. As important to him is that he would become a hated figure for ending the club.
4. He finds somebody of stellar wealth who sees MFC as a PL mainstay and regards £200m as chickenfeed to get hold of the club and drive it. This is extremely unlikely given we are not the only option they would have by a long way.

We are stuck with him and his barmy decision making (well intentioned or not).
And he is stuck with us.

As a side issue, are you really stating that Brentford is a club beyond us?
If so then you have completely lost the plot.

Bolton are one of a number of badly run clubs who have paid for their appalling leadership.
Brighton are one of a number who have prospered because of their leadership.

Tell me, how that was achievable given he wanted to play in the PL?
We could have shown him that we are planning for the PL with these transfers in mind and not end up with what we have in all reality which is loans ,free transfers and a couple for the future that may have swayed him as Bournemouth will be in the Championship next year so not a great deal gained .
