Manager Or Chairmen

Start running the club properly? Bring in people who actually know football to run the club for a start. Transfer strategy is laughable, constant turnover of managers it’s not difficult to see where we go wrong.

Well by your own admission he can't run the club properly because he's having to prop it up!

Transfer strategy - presume you know everything that's going on? Like why some deals happen and some don't?
Manager turnover - if you read this board it seems that he keeps his managers too long!

You point out problems but we have no idea why these problems are occurring. We don't see what's going on behind the scenes. We don't talk to transfer targets. We don't see the relationship with Gibson and his managers.

We are all frustrated but by moaning about things we know little about we aren't changing the situation.

I presume then you aren't happy with the financial model that Gibson has adopted and would like him to sell?
I'd love him to sell as he has failed since Eindhoven. His judgement is consistently horrendous.
I have no expectation of winning trophies or European Football, or top 6 challenges, but we have been below our historical average since being relegated in 2009.
I can cope with not being in the top flight so long as we make real efforts to get back very quickly.

But the truth is he can't sell because he has created something that nobody in their right mind would buy.
It is well over £110m underwater. It is kept afloat because he has guaranteed not to recall within 12 months the £120m plus his company is owed by the club to cover the losses his decisions have produced.
Why would anybody pay anything for his equity for something that is worth MINUS £110m (prior to last season)?

He clearly has decided he will invest no more. We are stuck in treacle. He can't get out without winding the club up and losing his cult status. We can't have a club without him as things stand.

Saying you want a new owner is futile, it just won't happen.
The only time in the last 16 years when good decisions were made at the club is when Kenyon was here.
He departed and with it went the brain.

Its down to the manager for me, the system clearly isnt working, yet he seems to pig headed to admit it, plus there seems to be an issue with how he is preparing the team for games. QPR we were 3 down at half time, Reading we were gash all game, last night we were 3 down at half time. 3 games out of 9 we have been abject. Of course you will get individual poor performances from time to time and a few times a season every team has a shocker - but 3 out of the first 9??? come on! There is something fundamentally wrong with how he is preparing them or he needs to just admit the system isnt right.

If he doesnt then he deserves to get sacked frankly

I’m not talking about the players we missed out on, I mean the tens of millions we have thrown away on signings that were never going to have any resale value. Filling our squads with loan players every year so every summer the squad needs an overhaul. Look at how few players we have actually made a profit on its shocking. It’s not sustainable to run a small club like ours in that way

Think anyone could have told you a fair amount of the recent managerial appointments wouldn’t work out at the time too

Not sure how anyone can defend any of this, the club is a mess and has been for years. Only a few years ago we were on the brink of league one and skint having blown all of our premier league money

It still amazes me that he still gets all of this best owner in football ***** from the press when that’s the reality of his ownership. Amazed that so many of our fans fall for it too, surely the media should be asking these questions, they would at any other club

The biggest **** up Gibson made was sacking Karanka. First season stops us going down. Second season playoffs. Third season promotion. Fourth season sacked. Far more successful than Southgate Strachan Mowbray Agnew monk Pulis woodgate Warnock and now wilder. First deficit on the balance sheet and he's sacked.

Yes Gibson is a disaster.
So much so that he gave us a period that many fans would die for and gave a platform for two of our managers to manage the national team.
This "I want it all and I want it now" sickness that is all pervasive in society now makes me puke.
How long can he dine out on that period though given It is over 15 years ago now (asking for a friend)?

😁 he isn't. I do though.
Shame that the kids doing the screaming on here didn't have that.
We just can't afford to eat with the fatties any more.

It’s not even about not having the funds to compete with the top teams before. Plenty of money has run through this club over the last few years and the majority has been ***ed away. Problem is Gibson can’t just keep throwing money at the problem anymore to fix things

What in McDonalds?

He absolutely dines out on it by the way.

I'm not a kid by the way zzzzz. Been watching well over 50 years.
We've been properly bad at some times in my life. 82-86 were grim and I was there through it all.
I stress I don't expect success all the time and we absolutely have no divine right to it.
But we have been on a downward spiral for 16 years.
There is no committee, no board, no other owner. It is his gig.

I loved the 13 out of 14 seasons we had in the top flight from 95-96, but that is a long time ago.
We've now had 13 of the last 14 seasons out of the top flight.
You have to go back to season 54-55 and the 19 subsequent seasons up to and including 73-74 for a run anywhere near as bleak. That was our major run outside the top flight and the biggest blot in our history.
Liverpool dropped with us in 53-54 and took 8 years to get back up themselves. We took 20.
I'm not surprised Clough asked for a move after his 5th season having scored 40,42,43,40 and 36 goals in consecutive seasons; seen us 6th,7th,13th, 5th and 5th.
We have become what my Dad endured post war again; only without a Clough.

The desperately sad thing is, he loves the Mr Middlesbrough tag he was dining out on, the truth is he isn’t even Mr Gillamoor right now. I had high hopes that lessons were learned and last summer the fire burned brightly, sadly it burned out, ambition is just an 8 letter word, just like deceiver is 😔

Gibson was brilliant for Robson and mcclaren .Since then it's been mistake after mistake and we have been absent from the premier league bar one season since.I think it's a struggle to compete on his budget in these times as unfortunately football has gone money crazy.Appreciate his loyalty to the club but maybe he has taken Boro as far as he can .

There is absolutely no maybe about it.

The Kenyon one was a strange one…

How did we even attract someone of his calibre to the club? Even in an advisory / consultancy capacity?

And more importantly, why the hell did we stop employing him?
