Is it just me or is fans interest in this appointment quite low. Is that because there is no outstanding candidate the fans want?

With the news that no appointment this week, is that because we are,

Awaiting someone to become available? Hello Steve Cooper 👋 classy

Or to see if Leo can cut it, cheap continuity appointment

I think that beyond a Bielsa type appointment the fans recognise that there’s not much in it now. Barring a phenomenal resurgence the playoffs are all but gone. Strap in for some entertainment with Leo and if we’re cutting it too fine then the obligatory new man can take over. We’re in a weirded place right now in that the status quo is the best that we can hope for.

Chris Jones - Anthony Barry
Ex Chelsea, current Belgium assistant

Nobby Barnes - Carlos Corberan
Aitor re-gen did ok with Huddersfield

Newyddion - Liam Rosenoir
Missed out on him, done well at Derby

Neil Bausor - Steve Cooper
Urgg, he did it last season!

Steve Gibson - Michael Carrick
Geordie ex Man Utd captain/coach

Kieran Scott - Rob Edwards
Bessie mate sacked off by Watford

Which one of them is gonna start churning out 2ppg straight from the off? Leo has the stage and is flanked by some very capable coaches. We improve on 1ppg and we’ve upgraded on Wilder. Introduce a few academy players into the first team and we’re much further forward than we thought.

If we have a strong run up to Xmas we could be well worth investing further. If not.. we need all our business lined up before the season finishes.

Part of it might be the uncertainty of what type of manager / head coach we are going for. Going the unproven route is a massive gamble in our position, yet as we saw with Wilder if a proven man comes in he may not tow the line. I was sat watching last night wondering e.g if Carrick got the gig what would he actually bring. You could insert any name there really.

I don't think there is an outstanding candidate, like you said.

Our most recent management choices were somewhat expected, or at the very least unsurprising (Wilder, Warnock, Woodgate, Pulis, Monk).

Got a feeling we will do another Karanka type appointment. Completely unexpected.

We've not been linked with anybody exciting, so people are bound to be less enthused.

Some of the people we've been linked with would be downright disappointing.

Ive no doubt the club are keeping a close eye on Leo's performance and how the players respond. I think if performances start improving then the club will just delay things until world Cup. Its a no brainer really, why would they remove someone that the players are responding to. I think Leo will find it hard to give up that feeling of being in charge after a few wins, it can be quite addictive, and might start getting offers from elsewhere. As much as he loves boro if the club won't give him the chance and he wants the hot seat he'll have to look at any offers.

If we say RE's name too many times then he might turn up, bit like the candyman.

For that reason I think not many people want to discuss it.

If there's nobody decent available then maybe we can just rotate the current coaches and each one can have a go at being head coach for a week at a time.

It would keep the opposition guessing!

I think the chances of Cooper coming here would be very low if he leaves Forest

Whenever a manager is sacked it’s fair to say they often take a break. I’m not so sure Cooper would be immediately available or in the right state of mind to take on another job where pressure is defined as digging another team out of a relegation situation.

Let’s face it Cooper has had probably one of the most demanding jobs in his short managerial career, so he could be burned out already — he definitely looked beside himself against Leicester.

This time, none of the names really stand out for me. For all my head is telling me we shouldn't give it to Leo. My heart tells me we would not get a more passionate man in charge of this football club. He's someone who just gets what we're all about as a club and as a town. I think there's no harm in giving him five games to see how we get on. It might just work, I have no doubt the players respect him and would run through brick walls for him. His man management would be first class, he would happily work alongside Scott with recruitment as he's someone who puts the club first. With an experienced assistant alongside him,who knows where we could go under Leo.

Let's also not forget he has a good CV. He's worked with France, Brazil and Uruguay at international level. He's also worked at Real Madrid.

I quite like Russell Martin, the Swansea manager. They seem pretty good at picking managers - Potter, Cooper and now Martin. Pretty good and Rodgers quite a while back. However since we are loathe to poach/compensate other clubs for a manager, probably unlikely. Although the table is tight, after a shaky start, they are up to sixth. Wood has played nearly every game too - who would have thought that?
