Lukas Engel

Really superb I thought today. A couple of great passes to Greenwood/Hackney. And put some dangerous crosses in even if they did not find anyone.

Actually did some really good cover defensive work as well.

Amazing what a bit of confidence can do and how stupid it is to write off new signings after 1-2 bad performances.

Left foot that is brilliant, good shape, brave as anything, lack of acceleration from a standing start is a worry.

Can we hide the lack of acceleration? I think so as when he is forward providing danger we should be shuffled over.

He seems game as anything, I really like him.

I really like him, and I'm happy for him that after that Sheffield Wednesday game he was able to come back in after a few games out and really start to look sharp. Got some really good technique on him with his ball striking, be amazed if he doesn't score an absolute banger or two this season.

I don't think he's actually that slow, he did their number 12 for pace over a short distance footrace late in the second half. He's clearly not a pace merchant but I think he's a bit quicker than George was say and he was able to make the position his own.

I think it's more mental sharpness that's letting him down when he's getting done, a bit flat footed when players run at him or at one point today got a runaround chasing the ball when if he'd held position he'd have stopped the move. I think it can be worked on and he just needs to anticipate and get across his man earlier.

Superb today. I commented that he's got a 'worldie' in him. He strikes the ball so cleanly from distance.

Amazing what a bit of time and confidence can do for a player. It can't have been easy when he was hooked at HT against Sheff Wed. That said he was hammered on here. Yet everyone was awful in that first half.

He really looked good today. Also bombing forward at every opportunity. Strange as he hardly crossed the halfway line in first 2-3 appearances.

You have to say the recruitment team have had a blinder in Dieng / Greenwood / Rodgers / Lath and even Rav VB (based on brief appearances). They deserve some credit. We've come a long way from sp*nking 21mil on the likes of Fletcher / Flint and Saville 🙄

Good again today. Very pleased for him as I was one of the posters who had wrote him off. Glad to be proven wrong. Just needed the time to settle and MC to manage him correctly which he has done magnificently.

Those who were slating Kieron Scott have gone very quiet.

Engel was really good today
I'd say he's currently in the team as first choice totally on merit

Barlaser is playing well too

Pleased for Morgan getting the goal

The more of our players improving the better

What a turnaround for Engel, playing well, standing ovations and MoM performances.

After the Sheff Wed game, he must have felt as welcome as a ginger stepson.

Another good game today, improving all the time.

It's probably true he's not the fastest fullback I've seen. I think Birmingham tried to test him by bringing Burke on, but Engle showed positioning and experience beat pace. Burke Is a walking argument for pace being insufficient to make a decent player.

In fairness, I did think it was a booking.

We used to sing a song about Bolo Zenden; time to revise it for Lukas?
