Looks like Hugill has been made available from Norwich

He did well at QPR in 2019/20. 13 goals in 39 games.

He's certainly a targetman and knows the Championship and is a Boro fan.

He would suit players like Tav who can play off him

Norwich manager said he has player leadership skills which we need to improve on.

Low number of goals over a wider period is a concern - example last season 4 goals in 31 games in a team that was doing well

Little chance of sell on value.

Wages £25k/£30k/week range? based on free transfer.

Certainly one to consider if big forward is a definite requirement.
Not a chance we will pay anyone £30,000 a week. Them days are over thankfully.

If its right that the Championship transfer market is very depressed, only the newly relegated clubs will be paying £30k/week - its not just Boro not paying £30k/week.

The last day of the transfer window could be interesting as some players face no contract - £20k/week may not seem as low then as it does now.

30k a week and not prolific. So agreed its only parachute payment sides that can pay him.

He can do a job in the champo. I really wanted him to do well for us with local links and also I really rated him at PNE (he gave Ayala and Gibson a right run around when I saw him).

I know it's early days but I think Uche does that 'role' better. Although maybe won't score as many.

The only issue is that he does well against us. So best kept in the prem😂

Hugill is absolutely rubbish. We have a better player in Ikpeazu.
Not sure about that, I think they are fairly similar level, but I'd put Hugill slightly ahead due to his experience at this level, he has proven it a bit more.

Championship Hugill has a goal every 255mins, Ikeazu has one every 293mins. I'd say that Hugill. It's a couple of goals extra a season for Hugill.

It's OK trying a player once, but going back again when we know he was very average is stupidity. I'd rather play our own young striker.

What is wrong with people on this forum of wanting to sign ex players. Hugil was dreadful, he was supposed to be a strong focal point, he was an absolute fanny.

Add to the list of others mentioned so far this season.
Adomah
Reach
Forshaw
Randolph
Kike
Rhodes
Besic
Hugill

He was extremely average for us, so much so even Tony "careful with money" Pulis who spunked £2m on his loan fee stopped picking him towards the end.

Slow, poor technique and poor finishing. Strong as an ox mind and decent in the air. An impact player for a promotion contender. As a regular starter mid table championship is his level. Suggestions that he's "too good for the championship" are laughable. I'd steer well clear personally, we should be aiming for better. In Uche we have better.
