Looks like Hugill has been made available from Norwich

They have probably decided the Championship is his level. I have mixed views about the lad. Being local I would love him to do well however we couldn’t contemplate playing him as a loan striker if we did show interest in him.

Fee and salary expectations would both need to be low to take a chance on him

Daniel Farke: “A key player for me,” he said. “I don't just rate a player because of his minutes and his impact on the pitch. You don’t win a title or promotion just as 11 players. A leader in our dressing room and one of the main topics why we were promoted...."

He could be a NW type of player & with the right service could be decent, I do think Championship is about his level though if Norwich paid £5m for him & probably a decent contract.. I just don't think we'd be anywhere near him.. maybe one for the demoted sides..

He's a better player than Michael Smith from Rotherham. Smith seems to just be getting a look in due to that one game where he ragged around one of our youth team players. I do appreciate Smith may be considerably cheaper.

He did well at QPR in 2019/20. 13 goals in 39 games.

He's certainly a targetman and knows the Championship and is a Boro fan.

He would suit players like Tav who can play off him

Norwich manager said he has player leadership skills which we need to improve on.

Low number of goals over a wider period is a concern - example last season 4 goals in 31 games in a team that was doing well

Little chance of sell on value.

Wages £25k/£30k/week range? based on free transfer.

Certainly one to consider if big forward is a definite requirement.

NK - Is he available on a free and how long is his current contract?
Cheers RW

31 games but only 7 starts, the rest are cameos off the bench.
His goals per game this season is actually good, a goal every 169 minutes.

Basically 1 in 2.

I'd make him our no 1 target, realistically we aren't going to be able to get anyone as decent for the money or the wages, even if we could we are going to struggle to attract them.
