Looks like Carrick Staying

Get behind the club FFS, the amount of stupid “I won’t go while he’s still in charge” comments I’ve read is pathetic. You support this club don’t you, show it instead of whinging. You can’t always be happy, but you can always get behind the club and the team even if you’re not in full support of the manager
Absolutely love this post. Perfectly put.

They are aware of what’s being posted on message boards and across social media. To imply they’re not engaged with that isn’t the win you seem to think it is.
You can buy platforms that report on Internet sentiment. It's unthinkable that the club do not monitor what fans are saying on all social media channels.

I hope he signs another 3 year extension so he can bring his bed along with him to matches so he wont hurt himself by havin a fall on the sideline daydreamin.

If possible i would like to get this message across to mfc main site before the make the biggest mistake of the clubs history. If anybody thinks things will be better without change next season they are dreamers as well.

That’s a bit melodramatic.
If we tried to think of the club’s biggest mistakes, how about:
Offering the manager’s job to Bill Shankley, then changing our mind.
Not playing the fixture at Blackburn.
Not buying a decent forward when Jack Charlton had us top of the league at Christmas.
Not selling Gestede to Leeds for £6m.
Appointing Gordon Strachan?

Itl be a very different squad and unpredictable again . A solid defence a good striker and a reinforced midfield expected and a clean slate .

Carrick was always staying. He’ll be backed in the summer and given the first 8 games. If the teams continues looking weak and is dropped points he’ll be gone by October.

It's something I just don't understand.

Not specific to our club, but if the faith is that tenuous then just make the change now.

The money it saves must be minimal, whilst the damage it does can be costly.

Yeah, also gives the new man a pre season. And chance to work with recruitment team. Makes no sense, really.

If Carrick is going to be under that much pressure from the start, which he will be, then what's the point. Just make the change now.

I don’t think he will be gone in October unless we nosedive like a dolphin, I think Gibson likes and trusts him and believes in him, I think he has another year. This inquest will happen every season, or it should do, mistakes are not in the realm of just Carrick. I can see Mike Phelan coming in or Meulensteen maybe.

I think the only way Carrick will be gone anytime before the start of the season is if Gibson has a buyer. In the less likely event that it does happen (and it will one day unexpectedly happen) then we’d be into the realms of fantasy.

As an aside, I wonder if Aaron Danks has aspirations of becoming a manager one day? He may never have played professionally, but so what?

There are quite a few grown men on here coming across as entitled toddlers!

Do I agree with every decision Gibbo makes? No, of course not.
Could I do a better job? No, he has 40 years experience in football and 50 years in business.

The answers to these questions for every single person on this board, will be the same as mine. If Gibbo decides that Carrick stays, it will be based on what he thinks is best for the football club - all things considered. Is that the right decision? Only time will tell but I know that no one on here will have greater knowledge of all the factors at play.

Discussion is great but don't let it be a polarising topic. There is a lot of middle ground that most of us will agree on - let's not dismiss that.

Fair point. I bet most who have been disappointed recently in Carrick have renewed regardless, I have.

But I just think this review that’s being talked about is not about Carrick’s job. It’s obvious he’s staying.

I’d love him to do well. I support the team and really enjoy going to games especially with my lad. Pre game at Coventry was great, we fans are brilliant.

I just don’t like smoke being blown up my ****.

We had a very poor season. We made loads of money. My season ticket did not get cheaper

Discussion is great, but if you disagree with my view, you're a toddler.
I haven't expressed a view on Carrick either way.

Just, the tone and 'Brexit' like entrenchment of view, seems a bit unnecessary. We all support the same team (with a few honourable exceptions) and want the same thing - a winning team. I don't think there is a need to be so tribal about Carrick in or Carrick out and I think that adding a bit more nuance to posts would help the atmosphere on here.

That's all, just my thoughts (for what they are worth!)

Don't disagree but it's been obvious to me that Gibson still supports him. Carrick is well liked, is a man of integrity and that will be well received within the club. It's very similar to Mowbray and a millions miles from Monk and Wilder.
