London Protest

'more important than covid?'... People are still dying. Just look around Europe as they have seen massive spikes.

You can say that you don't agree with it without meeting in the thousands. Just do it on social media. These folk in London for the past 2 weekends will still ask for NHS help should they need it through covid. It's a shame you can't tag them and refuse if they have attended Mass events.
It's a basic human right, and basic human rights are more important than covid, yep, absoloutely they are. As Rico said, I don't want an argument, debate is fine, and we can debate this, but let's not fall out.

The two things aren't equivelant S7, I feel your pain, I haven't seen 2 of my daughters for a year. I do underrstand, but some would considerr this more important than covid.

Whilst I disagree with the cause, vehemently, they have the right to voice their opinion, and they have that right to do it collectively.
The problem is they could exercise their right to protest whilst abiding by the law invariably they don’t and therein lies the problem, hence why others label them selfish.

If there were no end in sight to lockdown I could understand this more. However, we are on a schedule to lift restriction in the next few weeks. To be sure, the government needs to be held to that, but the timing of the protest is odd.

The "fake virus" element of the protest I see as nothing more than vanity and self indulgence. They remind me of Rik Mayall's People's Poet: convinced of their own importance and threat, but the government couldn't really care less about them. They're fond of claiming we're living in an Orwellian dystopia, but would do well to remember Orwell said Proles and animals are free.
I agree, but, and this is important, it would be arrogant to assume you and I were right and the protesters were wrong. In fact, I have seen no modelling for 28 million vulnerable vaccinated and the human cost of opening the economy today, in terms of mortality. That's not to say I think we should open up. I don't know, and the truth is, the public don't know, the government are not telling us. And, lest we forget, 12 billion has just been allocated to T, T & T. Could the government do that if the true picture were known?

Again, at what point would you be prepared to ignore a law FatCat? We are policed by majority consent, not by laws.

On schedule?

Aye, look at the latest scare stories in the papers of 3rd waves. Also see variants have popped up again in the news.
Were been prepped for another lockdown....

Probably took the same public transport that workers and students take every day if the week.
Difference with a reduced amount of essential workers using transport at different times of the day, opposed to hundreds cramming in for a protest

From what I’ve seen and heard of the march the “protestors” seem to want to stick both masks and vaccine up their @rses.

Double protection I assume?

I guess my 'basic human rights' are to see my family? I will screenshot this and use it as my defense if the police try to fine me or my parents neighbours kick off😉

I get what you are saying and what the people protesting are saying. I don't like this anymore than anyone.

I just think why should I stick to the rules and not see family up north (including Xmas as I was tier 4). Yet traveling to London is 'fine' and absolutely nothing happens?

If speaking out is alright then frankly we all just may as well do what we want. We don't like what the government says so ignore it.

Then we hold the government to account then.

I've not heard any reports of 3rd waves in Britain.
I've heard reports of them on the continent. That's because 3rd waves are happening, not because we're being prepared for bad news.

S7 you have just encasulated the entire problem there. Balancing the legal requirements against our wants and needs. You might argue that the goverement are manipulating the situation to ratify the transfer of 12 billion pounds to serco. I dont know?

If you assume, for a minute, that the government may try to manipulate us, doesn't that give you pause to consider what you ae being asked to do?

It's not a scare story if it's actually happening.

Everyone has the right to protest, for now. So I support their rights but I do question their cause. We are only 2 weeks away from an easing of lockdown restrictions. I don't understand why you would wait until something as coming to an end to complain about it?

Maybe they don't see it ending?

There are plenty around the country who wouldn't have been there feeling exactly the same.

People have rushed out to get a safe vaccine and it's looking more and more likely that it won't make a jot of difference to the way we are existing at the moment. 😀

Yeah I don't get that. It's only a couple fo weeks away from the next stage of easing restrictions. I don't understand protesting for that. If restrictions don't get lifted on april 12 then protest by all means.
