Liz Truss

From today's Guardian
"
Truss claimed no one had made her aware of the effect her changes might have on pension funds – “a problem that would ultimately bring my premiership to an abrupt and premature end because of the panic it induced”.

She claimed no one had raised concerns about the liability-driven investments that posed a risk to bond markets, until the Bank of England governor wanted to make a statement on the Monday after the mini-budget.

“Dramatic movements in the bond market had already begun, meaning the mini-budget faced a very difficult environment. Only now can I appreciate what a delicate tinderbox we were dealing with in respect of the LDIs,” she said. "

In other words, her defence boils down to 'don't blame me guv, I had no understanding of what I was doing'.

A truly awful politician and perhaps the worst of the current terrible group of Tories.

The use of the language is deliberate too by the way. It’s done to convince people there’s some deep state. Note the use of the word establishment. It’s designed to make the 50 plus wealthy white people in the south think there’s some conspiracy going on.

It’s the trump play book

The exhumation of Liz Truss is further demonstration of a desperate, disparate and divided Conservative Party, unable to consolidate behind any leader and bereft of any ideas or inclination to unite.

Sunak distracted by the continuous wrongdoings of his cabinet and the shadows of the ghosts of failed Prime Ministers past, hasn't the control or leadership to do anything as the echo who eviscerated the economy and sees the Conservative Party's popularity slump in direct correlation to every word she utters, decides now is the time to further remind everybody of the post Brexit competency vacuum in Government.

Johnson was the illness that severely sickened the country, Truss the secondary infection that nearly killed it off.

I hate the lot of them.

It would be interesting to see (and should maybe be a legal requirement) that all MP's finances are independently run and audited. Just as a matter of them being in public office and under public scrutiny, to assess whether they're benefiting financially beyond what their position should recompense them with. I think there would be sufficient evidence to say both Trump and Johnson have been compromised by their financial decisions/liabilities. If they knew that they would be required to be the subject of a forensic audit of their financial history and tax affairs I'm sure plenty wouldn't bother. If you need certain security clearances in the military you get a DV clearance background check to make sure you can't be blackmailed or compromised by foreign agents too.

If this was published every year and the public knew fine well that we aren't 'all in this together', I wonder if more the general public would be as enraged as the handful of people who seem to want to hold the corrupt crooks to account are?

We need an enormous change in governance, using a system that goes back hundreds (or further for some stuff) of years in the face of modern technology seems ridiculous.

Two elected chambers, no royal decree or invited to form a parliament nonsense, no seats for bishops from the CofE or whoever. Regional representatives whose job it is to represent, no second jobs, non-executive directorships, special consultant roles etc. A fixed salary, with additions for more responsibility, a hotel/former military barracks for them to live in whilst attending parliament, very limited expenses etc. They should live, eat and pay for things as the normal working class or anyone else on business expenses do, why do they get alcohol at 'work'? Oh and during my military career and offshore job now I'm subject to random drug testing, they should be too, twice a year.

It should be a vocation for those who want to improve our country, or the lot of the population, not line their pockets or assist billionaires to become multi-billionaires.

If someone was setting up a Guy Fawkes 2.0 I'd drive them there and light the fuse myself currently.

They've brought shame on us as a country, bankrupt the country, ushered in a cost of living crisis, all aided and abetted by the same media their friends own and or run.

I've never felt this bleak about out country before.

I can't wait to see Thick Lizzy plonk herself back in front of the cameras again for an interview.
Just for the avoidance of doubt, she will once again perfectly illustrate that she's still thicker than a Boxing Day turd.

This is the goal of the 'think tanks', the disaster capitalists and the neo-libs such as Truss. Ignorant people kept in a state of permanent fear.

The Tories self destruction continues. If we wern't all so skint, it would be hilarious.
Don’t disagree with you but DO NOT WRITE THESE BAR STEWARDS OFF, rich as fcuk, powerful influence in the media, they’ll not leave any stone unturned to muddy peoples minds with disputed facts and manipulated data as the GE draw closer…
