Liverpool are "exploring the range of options available"

Definitely agree with all that.

Although I love the idea that at the moment the VAR team can be watching other TV channels whilst being the Video Assistant Ref

In true Alan Brazil style "c'mon give us your programmes to watch whilst on VAR duty."

In Darren Englands case surely he was watching an episode of A Place in the Sun as a couple were looking to relocate to the Middle East.
Given the timing of the match. I would expect Darren England was watching Strictly when the call came through to check the goal. He hurriedly said check complete as he wanted to catch Les Dennis's scores. Am sure Jurgen Klopp will understand given Dennis is a scouser.

I do like the "challenge" idea. Each team having 2 challenges to on-field decisions and they keep their challenge if proven to be an incorrect on-field decision. This would:

a) limit the amount of times VAR is used to prevent it being constant throughout the game and disrupting the flow as much
b) should still catch the howlers providing managers aren't over zealous with their challenges
c) due to having less instances of its use, I think a bit more time could be taken where open communication could be broadcast through the stadium as it's being analysed and everyone would have an understanding of why a decision has been made
I missed the main advantage of the challenge system.

d) laughing at Jurgen Klopp after he wastes his challenges within the first 5 mins every week the watching him cry in the post match interview when he can't challenge an actual incorrect one

The problem with the appeal system is it’ll be used as a time wasting tool or tactical pause in the game to get players together etc

Potentially but I doubt any managers would have challenges left by the second half. They would all burn their challenges in the first half.

It's a good way of stopping managers coming put and blaming referees after games as well because they have the tools to contest Aby decision they please.

I’m sure people said the same about tennis and cricket, but they’ll know when and when not to challenge through players reaction.

I agree it a system that could be implanted, but it can’t be open to abuse

It works in tennis and cricket at there isn’t a running clock

Have you watched how footballers behave? 🤣 they think the referee gets every decision wrong.

If they go running and shouting at referees now, he can just say, "if you think I'm wrong use a challenge". Same when managers go whinging at 4th officials. I bet they soon realise referee's are correct far more often than they are.

They are not even expecting the decision to be overturned. They are doing it to intimidate the referee into giving them the next decision. SAF was a master at this, he would even do it before games to prime the officials to favour his team.

In addition, I feel a little bit for Darren, there’s a lot to follow in that audio. Lino letting play go on etc

Then he tries to rectify the situation but they are not allowed to. Think it harsh to punish him so publically too

All that conspiracy boll0cks and lies spread to twist the narrative. For nothing. It seems a few on here fell for every pathetic claim made by liverpool fans 🤣

Yeah, it's clear from that audio footage that it was just good old incompetence and distraction.

It's something that needs sorting, but it's not through malice like Liverpool's statement seemed to imply.

No conspiracy, I’m not sure why they can’t delay the game. Hopefully the change that law
It’s a tricky one though. If not at the restart, when do you draw the line? How far can you go back and start again? Go back 30 seconds? Go back five mins? As long as the half hadn’t finished? As long as the game hadn’t finished?
