Let them have their Super League.

I cant remember the last europan matche I watched, rather watch a kettle boil Norman, utterly boring & predictable
We use to get free tickets for the early rounds at OT when I worked at the school. United would give 15,000 tickets away and would make the money back on catering and merchandise they sold.

Getting paid to watch football was better than being sat in a classroom.

I have no problem watching the highest level of football in the PL and the CL, I quite enjoy it.

The divide between the Championship and the PL does seem to be growing.

Fulham, who will win the Championship convincingly will flirt with relagation until they find themselves back in the Championship.

Re FOSUN

Fosun chief Guo Guangchang is a multi-billionaire. He ranks among China’s richest. Yet that did not prevent him disappearing for several days in December 2015, detained by Chinese authorities.

He reappeared to say he had been “assisting in investigations carried out by the mainland judicial authorities” but declined to say more about what happened.

Fosun insisted the investigation did not relate to the company and Guo faced no charges. But a Shanghai business figure told the Financial Times it sent a signal: “No one is off limits.”
A lot of those owners wouldn’t be interested in the Premier League without the fantasy football teams in it. The money wouldn’t be in the league anymore and the clubs left behind wouldn’t be desirable.

This year's League Cup final - Chelsea vs Liverpool.

This year's FA Cup final - probably two of Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City.

This year's Prem - Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Yawn. I have no interest in any of those teams and no affinity with any of their spoilt fans. There's an extremely large part of me that doesn't want Boro to be promoted to the Prem, although I'm not sure what else there is for me to aspire to as a fan.

The only way to improve competition is to introduce a salary cap. Players wouldn't want to sit on Chelsea's bench if they weren't getting paid as well as they would be starting for Burnley. If you watch the NFL then even the worst teams in the league have some of the best players. You tend not to get teams that can dominate for years at a time because teams can't afford to hold on to players when someone else will pay them more.

Of course, the problem is that players would just b***r off to a league that will pay them.

I kind of agree. Yet we wouldn't have had the UTD or spurs moments. Also knocking City out under Karanka and many more.

You still get the 'magic of the cup'

Yet its also so f*cking boring to see City / Liverpool and Chelsea in the Semis. Its every year and so predictable. You see what city did to another prem side.

It's such a shame they didn't draw each other in the quarter finals.

I agree hate everything about the greed is good PL but unfortunately Boro need to be there just for the finance that goes with it & Steve Gibson of course

Quite happy if Boro could be a Borwich instead of a Burnley, Everton, Brighton, just me mind

And probably two of City, Liverpool and Chelsea in the CL final as well.

I’m not bothered about getting into the PL either, the best part is the journey to get there. I think things have moved on a hell of a lot since we were regulars in the top division. Our last experience of it was so depressing, I genuinely can’t even remember any memorable home matches.

Agree with all this. I have no interest in any of it, apart from play offs in championship. Who cares who wins premiership, league cup, CL etc. Same old. Might keep my eye on palace, but they won't make the final. Dull it is.

The CL is a non compettition regardless, its 5-6 teams totally dominate , The PL is a 3-4 horse race , am happy where we are as a club , prefer to watch Champo to just trying to survive in PL
But Boro loses £30 million a year. Unsustainable losses.

So, the real question is - a sustainable club playing in the Prem League -or - a team in the lower leagues where the wage bill is (signficantly) less than it is in 2022.

You can't have the luxury of a club paying far more in wages than its revenue.

What is it to be?

Chasing the dirty money stained in blood to join the "big boys" - is that what football has come to?

So you believe some of the dodgy self sponsorship to fiddle figures that goes on is genuine then ....they are as bent as Mel Was

Watching the way Man City are taking Southampton to the cleaners and thinking of how Chelsea beat us without breaking into a sweat, and when you think of the gulf between the top 3 or 4 clubs...6 at a stretch...and the rest, you wonder what the point is. The same clubs win the cups 90% of the time. They all have massive financial resources, multiple times what the rest do, and a lot of them are funded by dodgy regimes or companies. Screw them, the game is ruined. Let them break away and have their European or World Super League for the glory fans from every corner of the globe. Leave the traditional competitions to the real clubs owned by real chairmen and fans.

Yes, I'm bitter... 🤣
If they do break away, they can't have their cake and eat it. It's super league or prem, not both
