Leicester could do a Burnley

Didn't they have a 175m wage budget last year?
Yes they have let 7 players go on a free but that doesn't account for all the necessary reductions
Even if Tielemans was on 60k a week that's just a reduction of 3.1m
How come all this reinvesting doesn't come with re-added wages ?
Championship won't make sense if they going to have a 130+m wage budget and still sign off on FPP

Think Boro's on last recollection was 21/22 was 28.1m
Only matters if they don't get back up. There are no limits if you get promoted because the EFL can't touch you once you are in the PL.

Perhaps, but if they are going to record a loss of £100m+ next season, the owners need to be prepared to finance that. Given that they wouldn't stump up for a GK last season, I have serious reservations about their spending capacity, although if the transfer rumours are true maybe they're not the financial basket case I expected them to be.

I can see 8 teams walking this league like Burnley did last year.

Leicester, Leeds, Southampton, Norwich, Watford, Sunderland, Ipswich and Sheff Wed.

All have rich owners, parachutes or league one momentum.

All of them promoted by Christmas.

I think Sunderland will do well next season.. Mogga is on a mission.
Leicester, Southampton & Leeds need to be in the mix, Boro have a great platform to build off. Coventry will need to replace Gyokeres

Norwich 13th , Preston 12th & Huddersfield 18th all improve their positions

Blackburn 7th, Swansea 10th & Watford 11th.. not so sure.. you would think Watford would have enough to make an appearance this season.

Prediction?

Sunderland
Middlesbrough
---------------------
Leicester
Preston
Huddersfield
Leeds

Preston 😬

Dark horses..

"I’m quite comfortable with where we are. I think the whole business is quite slow, but as I’ve said numerous times we’ve got to recruit smartly and that’s what we’ll continue to do. I am quite relaxed. We understand that these players, there are several players probably in for the players we're in for.

"We've got to make sure that we show them what we are doing and how we go about it. Ultimately, they come for the football club as well and the style and the brand and where they fit in. You have to do those things and you are hoping one or two go: 'Yeah I fancy that' like Calvin has done. We are ready to get a couple more additions in soon."

For me Leicester have it sewn up already. Southampton and Leeds will be up there, as well as 'Boro. It is going to be tighter then ever I feel. Ipswich are the dark horses and see them either automatic or in the play offs.

My prediction is Boro, Sheff Wed, Blunderland, Watford all challenging for play offs. Leicester runaway leaders, Leeds and Ipswich fighting for the second automatic spot. UTB.

Harry Winks and Connor Coady for 18.5m is not exactly good business, Coady is an aging defender who struggled last year at Everton, the championship will be a long slog for him and winks while tidy is an average footballer too, the championship tgrows different things at all teams and there are no guarentees that the best squad on paper can perform to the levels needed in the championship, every season shows that, one of the newly promoted teams will no doubt be in and around the playoffs come the end of the season without spending a great deal on anyone.

I personally think Southampton are the most likely team to go up. Leicester could be anything, win it with 100+ pts, or mid-table.

They have an amazing squad at this level but they've already lost Soyuncu and Tilemans on a free and Maddison and Barnes will probably leave as well. New manager and it will be all about how he does and who they buy.

My godson is in their 21s and says there is a genuine buzz in pre-season since the appointment of the new manager. Really wants them to play football (which the signings above would indicate)
There should be a buzz.
The view from up at Seagrave is nice this time of year

Luke Thomas is worth looking out for.......

Vardy - surely will be gone - he will be on at least £125k/week and there will be no relegation clause to reduce his wages.

Average wage at Leicester was £87k/week last season. Even with parachute payments they will need to reduce that to around £50k/week. I suspect Villa and Wolves will want Archer and Giles salaries picked up in full by Leicester if they go on loan say around £50k/week.

Leicester are clear favs with the bookies - Burnley were not. Burnley were about the same odds as us.

If we run with a budget of £25m - Leicester will be on £75m to show the difference in resources.

saints will do better than Leicester imo. they have a good champo squad that wasnt quite good enough at prem level. they wont lose that many players. leicester will lose their star men from an already underperforming squad. i think they will struggle for momentum and fall short. the relegation blow will be hard on that squad. burnley were great last season. blades were not great but, they were amazing at beating what was In Front of them. leeds will remain to inconsistent to challenge imo.

Should be a rule. Sell a player for 40million or more like maddisson then factor in some reduction in para hute payments. So unfair. Something needs doing

I'd agree, Leicester are likely to run away with the league, they've still got a great squad. I think Leeds & Southampton aren't quite as equipped and we've seen it can be a struggle for at least one relegated team each season

So 5 places to play for, for me.
