Leicester could do a Burnley

... It sounds like Leicester could win the Championship at a canter if they get across the line some of the linked players.

So far they are strongly linked with the Boro loanees, Giles and Steffen.

Conner Coady looks to be a done deal (which I think is a cracking signing for our level).

Harry Winks is now heavily linked, again, at this level he *should* be a stand out player in midfield.

On top of that, if they keep hold of players (that havent been linked anywhere so far this summer) such as;

- Vardy
- Daka
- Ndidi
- Dewsbury-Hall
- James Justin
- Praet
- Waes

That is a very impressive squad.

Obviously lots of swings and lots of roundabouts before the big kick off....

To be fair, that squad shouldn't have been relegated in the first place.

I honestly think if they kept Kasper, then they'd have stayed up. He wasn't just an excellent goalkeeper, but one of their biggest leaders and personalities in the dressing room.

I think the bookies are right to have them favourites.

They are rightly favourites. And if they manage to bring in some good new players which they will and integrate them in with lads who still want to be there then they will be right up top of league all season.

But if there is a few there who are unhappy to be playing championship football and don’t get desired moves, could be a tricky one to navigate.

There is some big names in that squad.

It does seem suspiciously quiet around the Leicester players, only really Maddison and Barnes being linked, and Castagne.

I wonder if the horror season has tarnished some reputations in their squad.

Agree about Schmeichel, always seemed a strange sale that one considering how important he appeared for years prior to that, and without replacing him.

Dewsbury hall is premier league. But he’s Leicester through and through so may stay

Pretty much one of the best sides on paper to get relegated. That squad looks a comfortable prem side.

You can tell that the interest in some of their players. They will make a fortune off 2-3 sales (Maddison / Barnes). Then add the parachute payments. They will take some stopping. I imagine a very good move for any player.

Although big spending doesn't always work. I imagine they have a few who've never played in the champo. Especially as they've been a well established prem side.

Steffen looks like it's going to happen. Although he's injured until October. I've read a few fans on twitter don't over fancy him. Many going on about the Wembley performance ... Sound familiar 😂

They could do a Boro: spend every penny they bring in through sales, and still just limp in to the play offs.

I take the point about their strength on paper, but it didn't stop them being relegated, despite being better than some that survived on paper.

A good team is more than the sum of its parts.

Their wage bill will be astronomical, the parachute payment probably wont cover all of it but its their potential sales that will make the difference.

If they get straight back up then it will be a gamble that has paid off. If they don't, they will have to reduce expenditure massively to meet FFP.
It's a risk but they probably have a really good chance of promotion.

If the 3 relegated teams get things right with their managerial appointments and recruitment then they should be head and shoulders above everyone else.

They are all coming down with squads better than the majority of the division and they'll have resources that dwarf the rest of us. We need to play like we did for the majority of our time under Carrick and hope a couple of the relegated teams underperform.

It looks like a much stronger league on paper and I think 3rd or 4th again would be seen as success for us.

They've lost Tielemans as well don't forget, it'll be interesting to see how Vardy does in this league at his age. If he avoids injuries (doubtful) he could easily bag 20+ goals.

This argument is made every season but it rarely pans out like that. On average ONE of the relegated teams bounce straight back up.

Completely agree with that.

On paper all 3 should be right up there but the Championship is an animal!
Exactly. It's unforgiving. Games come thick and fast. It's a big change from the Premier League.

Also, relegated teams are often starting the season low on confidence. Players are unsettled. Some will be looking for PL moves etc. Most of the players will have taken a pay cut.

It's not as black and white as those teams having the best players.

No guarantee a new manager will have a new team playing like 1970 Brazil just because of names on paper. For too many variables and moving parts.

Could take time, could flop, could tear the league up. Bit early to say how brilliant Leicester are going to be as they are having the spine of their team ripped out.

But as rightly pointed out, Championship is an animal, a completely different beast to the PL with a lot of players struggling to adapt.

Leicester are well in the black over the years on transfer dealings like Southampton and Brentford

But Rodgers wasnt given any money towards the end which raised suspicions over their financial status
