Latte Lath

Our squad is a million miles off a promotion winning one.
Picking on LL in isolation is pointless.
He is not one of the worst, but he did cost £5m, so he should be an obvious pick - and he simply isn't.

We need a player like Archer who can lead the line, is far more clinical and can effectively lead the press.
But there again we need a player at 10 like Akpom who can take the ball, turn and bring the rest of the front 4 and full backs into play, and also press.

We lack quality all over the pitch.

We should be signing another mobile striker in the Archer / Lath mould and loaning Coburn out.

I think the only way Coburn gets in this team is if he improves technically enough to play a slightly deeper /withdrawn role with Lath ahead of him. (Good old 442)

total appearances means nothing ... lets see the goals per minute
i remember nemeth had an awful goals per appearence because he was always a sub but his goal per minute was nearly the best in the prem

Goals per minute can mislead if a player is generally only coming off the bench. It's often easier to score if you come on with 15 minutes to go and are fresh and ready than starting.

His record in his last loan at St Gallen was good but he's playing in a league that at best is below his level with us. He definitely has good movement and positioning, pace and strength plus he's surprisingly good in the air. So far he's been let down by his first touch, control and composure but that might get better with confidence and experience at this level.

If we had paid £1m for him as a second choice striker to develop, it would be great. Indications are that we had not intended him to be our first choice striker and, at this point, it feels like we overpaid. Still, he's scored 5 goals in the 12 Championship games he's started for us which is excellent when you look at everything that's gone wrong this season. That would put him on track for 15+ in a full season where he stays largely injury-free. Definitely one of those players who, if he can get a run of 10 games for the rest of the season could really kick on ready for next season.

If our playoff are completely and finally put to bed in the next few games and we seem safe I would like Carrick to use the remainder of the season experimenting with different formations and set ups , obviously when Josh comes back it would be good to see him and LL develop some understanding of each others positional play by being paired together, and some of the youngsters should be used to motivate them for next season, so I rather our season didn't come to an end in March, it can still be a big positive for next season.
IF Josh comes back, is a bigger question.

I wouldn't be against seeing how Finch does, with some time from the bench, he's had a year of injuries but is back scoring with the U21s now.

I like him. He is raw but he's got frightening pace and at this level it will push most teams back. He seems to always get his shot on target and he's deceptively strong and can hold it up. I think it's clear we've missed his/Izzy's pace and getting them both back together will change our fortunes IMO

It was an awkward height so he wasn't sure whether which body part to control it with. He didn't make a decision in time and it just hit him and fell kindly. Nice finish though but the way the Norwich players completely failed to react was as if they feel they owed us one for allowing Barnes to score when he was sat on his ****.

Well we'll be signing Archer in the summer anyway 😎😎😎😎

Needs to improve his very heavy touch, constantly let's him down. Could be down to balance/body position, who knows - but it does need to get better.
He is pacy and I like his movement and he also has a great attitude and work ethic.
Overpaid?, better to judge this time next year I reckon.

If we ask him to change his name to Last , then sign him up for the entirety of his career, then , well , you could say we'd always have the Last Lathe. Just a thought. 🤷‍♂️
