He wasn’t a no mark.

That maybe so but I think a lot of this board have forgotten how they wrote him off. There were no collective “Akpom will become prolific” sentiments on here during that covid season.

I think largely he was never wanted by the club even when we signed him he was just back up he did ok in Greece btw

Carrick and Leo changed that made him feel wanted and valued.

But he was even tipped for senior England squad as a kid at Arsenal he trained with Henry etc.

Ok but let’s not forget that Latte Lath was signed from Serie A, we haven’t just plucked him out of some Sunday League team.

What’s your point viv I’m just saying people can’t expect miracles.
My point is that Latte Lath clearly has talent as well. He’s been spotted and vetted by Atalanta, one of the most respected scouting set-ups in the world with a proven track record of developing players. Acknowledging this does not mean I think he’s going to be a 25-goal-a-season man for us. He might be, he might not. But he obviously has some ability otherwise Atalanta wouldn’t have been wasting their time developing him.

It’s semantics really. Both players were signed from bigger clubs in bigger leagues, neither of whom pulled up trees at those clubs or got much time in the first team. If Akpom can come good, so can ELL imho.

I don't mean to be funny but how can you be do dismissive to Lath improving when you had such blind loyalty towards Payero who lets be honest had shown nothing in a Boro shirt? Lath is at least getting into positions to score. I can't say whether he will start scoring but there is at least a hope that he will. Akpom was absolutely terrible at finishing for us until last season. You've got to hope it may click with him if he starts scoring a few goals and we get a few postive results. At the moment it probably feels to him like all the pressure for the team to score is based on his shoulders. Maybe he relaxes a little and starts to put some of them away. He might not. But it's way too early to dismiss him as being hopeless.
