Latte Lath - 6 goals in 12 starts

The chance Lath created for Jones in front of the South stand where he put him through on the right hand side and unfortunately Jones absolutely shanked it was very good play for a player that cost less than Aiden Flint, George Saville, Ashley Fletcher and Rudy Gestede.

Very true.

The chance Lath had last night in front of the South stand where he was put through on the right hand side and absolutely shanked it was appalling for a player that cost £5m
His goal was extremely lucky going through the legs of the defender and then the keeper.
He's certainly quick, but I'm yet to be convinced he's an upgrade on Leroy Lita who had similar attributes....
Lita did score 8 goals in all competitions in his first season, and played in almost every game.

ELL has 7 so far, and has featured in 75% of matches. It's mid-December with half a season left.

If you're not convinced yet Nobby, you should be comfortably by the end of the season I'd hope.

Whatever the relative pros and cons of Lath and Coburn, we aren’t winning games while we continue to concede 2 & 3 goals per game, many of which are down to individual sloppiness. That and that alone is the issue that needs addressing. If the opposition score 0 or 1 we have much more chance of picking up 1 or 3 points.

There are some incredible explanations from posters trying to justify their criticism of Latte Lath.

We win more with coburn playing is my personal favourite. If we were talking about tennis you might have a point.

Over the number of games that stat is meaningless given there are 21 other players on the pitch.
Agreed if you look a bit deeper into it I would say the recent opposition has generally been stronger. And if you want to split more hairs Coburn wasn't even on the pitch when we scored the winner in some of the games. You can make stats say whatever you want. Ask the Government. Regardless of which starts and who is on the bench Coburn was a huge miss on Saturday as we had nobody to bring on that you would say could be a game changer.

By the way, I'm just putting the stats in. I prefer Coburn as no1 option at the moment. I think he brings the 3 players behind him into play more.

But we are getting a decent return out of Lath. I don't think he deserves some of the stick he gets.
That is probably true when Hackney plays as he gets forwards whereas currently we have Barlaser who is sitting far too deep atm.

Latte Lath has had his run of games during an injury crisis, that's the likely cause of him being involved in less wins than Coburn

Coburn came in to the team during the injury crisis.

Lenihan out for the season after game 8.
O'Brien out after game 9.
McGree out after game 10.
Van den Berg injured during games 10 and 11.
Smith out for the season after game 12.
Forss out after game 12.

Coburn started games 7 to 16, and we won 4 of the 6 games after the majority of the injuries happened.

Latte Lath has started games 3 to 6 and 17-21.

It's only Hackney who's been newly injured since Coburn also picked up in injury, bar Fry's two game spell.

I wouldn't disagree, neccessarily. I have a slight preference for lath over coburn, but I don't really mind who plays. They both bring different qualities and when both are fit, they will probably rotate, depending on the opposition.

He will get better, I was watching his St Gallen action again on YouTube this morning, a lot of his moves and runs came from a deeper left side position on the pitch, I still think as do a lot on here that if we get Coburn back then we can have LL and Jones coming on off him on their respective sides, but that still leaves the 10 position, at the moment it seems to be Crooks who is favoured. I wonder how Barlaser played at Rotherham because he had a shed load of assists at Rotherham in this division, and maybe taking some defensive responsibility away from him might suit him.

You would probably be wise to assume that Hackney is the bigger whole to fill than either coburn or lath.

When he is missing you will win less games, regardless of who is up top.

Lath should have at least double that amount of goals with the chances he had. Goals have dried up from other areas which makes it even more of an issue.

It just shows how much we are up against it from last season, Archer or Akpom would have had 15 goals with those chances

The defence has been more of problem for at least 18 months - the stats don't lie over that length of period.

Only Hackney? Arguably our most influential player.
McNair has missed the last 2.5, Fry missed the Ipswich game, Jones and Dijksteel missed Ipswich. Either way if you're trying to suggest there's a strong correlation between the results and Latte Lath playing it is hardly credible given he's scored more and we've been gifting teams goal at the other end

I don't think either of them are exactly what we need though, another Cameron Archer type signing is needed, but unlikely
