Latest Kantar poll - Tories 13 points ahead

The thing is, the average Joe Soap must realise that Johnson lies when he opens his mouth. That he is only interested in himself. That 1,000s upon 1,000s of Covid deaths were preventable. That our economy as a result of Brexit and the pandemic is f*cked way beyond that of who we see as our main European competitors. That he will happily sell NI down the river to suit his own narrow interests...shall I go on?

You don't have to be politically savvy to establish the man is quite simply a disgrace to his position
From the polls, the majority of people (over 50%) do realise that. But FPTP means a minority of people can get an 80 seat majority. In theory, with FPTP, 12% of the electorate could get a 1 seat overall majority.

You are right - This government is a disgrace - everybody knows it yet they would rather vote for this bunch than Labour - that tells you everything you need to know.

Labour defeats itself time after time, not the Tories

Would be interesting to see how opinion stacks up in the key marginals, an interesting feature of the last election was how many more Labour-Conservative marginals they were, so a small swing from Conservative to Labour and Lib Dems could wipe out the majority.

A month ago YouGov had the Tories on 33 points.

Their polling on the smaller parties as been all over the place, I would not be surprised at all to see another headline grabbing swing towards Labour in the coming weeks, followed by a slow swing back out.

But the electorate can be influenced by solid arguments and ideas so strong opposition is still a necessity.
Ultimately, their incompetence will turn the tide. The families of the 160,000, the 5.7 million on hospital waiting lists, the millions of working families that have lost the UC uplift, the people who will be at least 5-10% worse off next year as inflation bites and everyone who sees the shortages through and beyond Christmas - that's the only thing that will bring 'good old Boris' down.

Not to mention the ~3 million people who where left out of the furlough scheme who won't be left out when repaying it.

Not voting for them isnt enough. People need to vote for a credible Labour alternative.
It is enough. Not voting for them and they cant get in
That really doesn't help though, cos some people will always vote for them, in the same way some people will always vote Labour. What will it take to make them unelectable???
I know that. My comment is aimed simply at those who realise they are self serving, incompetent crooks and yet somehow they still say "but there was no alternative so I voted for them".

That really winds me up. Yes there is. Anybody but them.

To the average Joe soap labour aren't an attractive alternative, the political sophisticates on here can Google data to show where the conservatives are failing but most people aren't that attentive to policies. Labour are seen as the party of minorities and minority causes, Starmer doesn't have a strong enough image to catch people's attention.
I'd be amazed if anybody needed to use Google to form an opinion that the Tory Party is presiding over a monumental sh1tshow.
